For it is written that Your peace in not like what the world tries to give. This day I choose to not be troubled or afraid.

During this Holiday Season of joy, celebration and gathering with family and friends(and really all the year) remember those grieving from loss(divorce, death, rejection, failure) and suffering from illness and depression. Have compassion for the poor and lonely. This time of year is often depressing to many. Pray for them and then—- DO. (Ephesians 2:10) Put hands and feet on your Love and prayers.

Look to the manger and the resurrection to find God’s gifts for you. Love, Life, Faith, Peace, Joy, Power, Favor, VICTORY!

Love on the First Day of Lent

Happy Love Day to all. Remember Love Never Takes a Holiday. Remember to Love God, love your neighbor and love one another. John 13:34-35, God is love. Please pray for marriages, relationships and families.

Today is also is Ash Wednesday and the 1st day of Lent. Lent is a time when we should evaluate and reflect on our love for God in how we love Him by obeying His Word, love others and walk in love.

The Lenten Season (February 14 to March 30) is a time of repentance, self-examination, fasting and prayer in preparation for Resurrection Sunday (Easter). “Renewing our sense of who we really are before God is the core of the Lenten experience”. (Pastor Orville K. Littlejohn, my Pastor, “Our Focus for Ash Wednesday”). So today seek God with a repentant heart (See Joel 2: 12-24) and let us honestly search our hearts (Psalm 139:23-24)

Meditate on the scriptures listed below and pray the focus points and what the Holy Ghost places on your heart.

Prayer Focus for February 14, 2018
– February 14- Repentance and Loving God

Scriptures: Deut. 6:1-9 Matt. 22:34-40 Psalm 139:23 Psalm 51 Psalm 66:18-19

Repent: Of not loving God with all of your heart, soul, and mind and of allowing other things to fill and occupy our lives.

Meditate, pray, and write down other areas for which you should repent.

Reflect on what way you want to improve your prayer life and to deepen your friendship with God.

Pray:
• For Christ to bring people near enough to God to experience the Father’s loving delight in His Son for people to love and follow Jesus.
• Pray for forgiveness for what you have done to others and how you have failed to obey God and to forgive others who have wounded you.
• For household salvation for friends and family.
• It is Christ’s eager desire that you know God by drawing near to Him. Open your life to God. Accept His invitation. He’s summoning you to seek His face.
• Pray for MEN – Pray that men will seek God and honor Him with an integrity that unites their lives in faithfulness, wisdom, and truth; that their vision of masculinity would be a Christ-like servant leadership in the family, church and world.
• Pray for God to strengthen your prayer life and deepen your relationship with him.
• Ask God to fill you with joy in his presence.
• Intercede for the church in our community to be filled with fresh love for God and to demonstrate His love to those around us-both in the church and among those who do not yet know Christ.

It is important to note that a repentant heart is not limited to a special season or time of the year. If we want to have effective prayer lives which bring forth life transformation and healing of the land, repentance must become a part of our lifestyle. Despite the benefits of repentance, we are resistant to the thought of repentance. Repentance isn’t a popular word. Our culture encourages us to do whatever we want when we want. TV, music videos and movies very rarely show the consequences of our sins.

It is one thing to know that you have done something that is wrong. But it is another to be saddened and sorrowful about your actions and determine that you will turn away from that sin and never do the act again. To repent “I” or “we” must come to terms with and acknowledge that we have sinned and then turn away from such sinful behavior and be reconciled back to our loving Lord. Therefore, repentance is a change of mind that involves both a turning from sin and turning to God. Christ began his ministry with a call to repentance. (Mathew. 4:17). We must examine every attitude, every motive, every action and ever word of evil. Repentance means that you are deeply godly sorrowful and hurt about what you have done unto the Lord and that you are determined to do all that you can not to commit that sin again. “Repentance means we are sorry about our sin to the point of grief, and we have turned and walked away from it”. Stormie Omartian, “The Power of a Praying Woman” p. 40, Harvest House Publishers, (2002).

Dream Big!

mlk love image.axd

As we honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ,”the Dream” and reflect on what he achieved that many thought was impossible we know that faith makes things possible.”With God, all things are possible.” -Matthew 19:26. Praise the King of Kings that downloaded “The Dream” into the great dreamer, Dr. King’s heart.

What dreams have God poured into your heart? What do you know you know you need to step out in faith and do. Pray and ask the Lord. Seek His face. Listen. Prayer is a dialogue not a monologue. Then DO what He tells you to do.

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
Dream Big. Believe. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”Matthew 21:22. Pray without ceasing. 1Thess. 5:17 . Do/Act. Faith without works is dead . Walk by Faith. Faith make things possible , not easy. Don’t quit or grow weary.

Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be discouraged, for the Lord God , my God, is with you. 1 Chronicles 28:20 NASB

Pray:

• Confess to the Lord the ways you have not walked in love, mercy, loving-kindness, and goodness.

DAY 28 – March 11 20- Demonstrate the Love of Christ in Relationships
40 Day Prayer Journey to Life Transformation

We have been pressing through these 40 days of prayer and repentance. How have you been challenged, growing, laying aside weights and sin, and being renewed toward transformation? God is love and He wants us to demonstrate that love in our relationships with the “saved” and those who do not know Jesus Christ personally. We should live as a demonstration of His love, grace, mercy and truth so that we will glorify Him and so that someone may be saved through Him. Invite the Holy Spirit to search your heart to reveal areas where transformation needs to occur in you and in the church.

Scriptures: Ephesians 5:25-33; Colossians 3:19;John 3:1-21; 1 John 3:1-23; 1 John 4:11,20-21

Repent: Of declaring that we love others when demonstrating lack of love and concern for those who are lost and without Christ; of speaking love, but not showing love and mercy through deeds that touch the lives of those in the world around us; of not loving as the Word states especially within the household of faith , the family unit and our neighbor.

Receive: A fresh cleansing from the sin of not loving as Christ loves.

Pray:

• Confess to the Lord the ways you have not loved and honored the lost, your neighbor and family members.
• Ask the Lord to do a work in your heart that will release you from any spirit, thought or unforgiveness that blocks your relationship with those who do not know Jesus Christ, your neighbor and family members.
• Pray that the Holy Spirit will empower you to forgive and for each of you to forgive each other.
• Pray for healing of broken or embittered relationships.
• Pray for relationships with your children and that as a parent you will demonstrate that love with encouragement, time and healthy discipline.
• Pray that children will love, respect and obey their parents.
• Pray for the church to be a living force of love in the neighborhood, city and world.
• That you and the church will be known by your love for one another and for your love for those who are lost and do not know Jesus Christ.
• Pray that the church and you show your neighbor, those who do not know the Lord, and the world genuine love in word and in deeds.
• That the church be delivered from the spirit of legalism and released into a Spirit of truth love and liberty of the Spirit.
• Pray for a deep love and respect between church members and also between family members. Pray for reconciliation where they are at odds.

DAY 14 – February 26-Walking under Leadership and Authority
40 Day Prayer Journey to Life Transformation

We have being praying for a spirit of repentance in all areas of life. First, for a week we sought the Lord in repentance in our relationship with God. Scriptures: Mt: 8: 5-13, 28: 18-20; Rom 13:1-7; 1 Pet. 5:1-11

Repent: Of ways in which we have rejected Godly authority; of presuming personal authority that does not line up with what the Word of God states about the order of authority in the church; of speaking evil of church authority and leadership.

Meditate, pray and write down other areas for which you need to repent.

Pray:
• Pray for God’s divine or order to be established in righteousness, truth and justice within the church and in our local congregations.

DAY 15 – February 27- Walking In Authority
40 Day Prayer Journey to Life Transformation

We have being praying for a spirit of repentance in all areas of life. First, for a week we sought the Lord in repentance in our relationship with God. Last week we prayed about our relationships in our family. Today and for a few days we will pray about how we function together as a body of Christ-worshipping, serving and loving as one. How do we handle the authority God has given each of us in the body of Christ? Do we walk in integrity and maturity of character? Do we exercise our spiritual gifts in love?

Scriptures: Luke 9: 1-6; 10: 1:1-12; Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 12:9-10; 13:10

Repent: Of walking in the world’s expression of authority rather than in God’s way of humility, servanthood and submission; of walking in self-proclaimed authority rather than in the authority that comes from Jesus Christ and according to his appointment or assignment; of trusting in personal authority, skills and power rather than in the power of the Holy Ghost working in us.

Do : Meditate, pray and write down other areas for which you need to repent.

Pray:

1. Praise God for the authority and power He has given to us in Him.
2. Confess the times you have substituted man’s knowledge and way of exercising authority for God’s vision and way for walking in authority.
3. Pray for forgiveness and understanding of God’s divine order and way for walking in authority under God first and then for those who God position us under their care and then authority in which God has given by assignment and apportionment by grace..
4. Pray for a release of godly authority for all believers to walk victoriously over the wiles of the enemy.
5. Pray for leaders and the body of Christ will walk in Christlike character that will encourage and edify others, rather than cause evil ways to seek into the body of Christ and discouragement.
6. Ask God to increase your fervency to seek Him in the exercise of your God given authority and in all things.
7. Pray that leaders in your church will not allow programs and strategies to become idols, replacing their ability to hear the heart of God.
8. Pray for greater discernment for false prophets and false doctrine and teachings in messages.
