Worshiping Christ and Praying for His Rule/Presence Using His Names and Attributes

AN INVITATION TO CHRISTIANS ACROSS AMERICA:

TO UNITE IN WORSHIPING CHRIST AND IN PRAYING FOR HIS LORDSHIP IN EVERY PERSON, PLACE AND SITUATION IN OUR NATION

How: Worshiping Christ and Praying for His Rule/Presence Using 153 of His Names and Attributes

WHAT WE ARE PROPOSING WITH THESE NAMES AND ATTRIBUTES OF CHRIST

There are 153 names and attributes of Christ for which we will be praying and worshipping from now until the end of the year. (one for each day August 1 – December 31, 2010), The names and attributes of God are meant to be a “Portrait of Christ”, from the Old and New Testaments.    At this crucial time in history, He alone is our hope.  Man’s best plans and resources are grossly inadequate to overcome the challenges and needs of the Church and all people.

HOW EVERY CHRISTIAN CAN “FIX OUR EYES UPON JESUS” TOGETHER

1. Read the Scripture passage of the day a couple times and freshly devote ourselves to following Christ.

2. Worship Christ throughout each day according to His name/attribute of the day (be filled with awe and praise of His greatness and glory).

3. Pray continually (according to His name/attribute of the day) that Christ will rule in EVERY part of your life, in EVERY other person and situation He brings into your life throughout the day, and in EVERY person, place and situation that affects our nation.

What will God do if multitudes of believers saturate our spheres of influence with continuous worship of His beloved Son during the upc0ming 153 days?  What will God do in countless homes, churches, workplaces, schools, youth groups, local and national leaders, natural and manmade crises, the economy, and much more, if we fervently invite Christ to rule and reign in the authority of His names and attributes?   May we be desperate for the manifest presence of Christ.

Sunday August 29 to Saturday September 4

THE LORD THE KING

August 29 Psalm 98:4-9 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—shout for joy before the Lord, the King.  Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.  Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy; let them sing before the Lord, for He comes to judge the earth.  He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.

A PRIEST FOREVER IN THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK

August 30 Psalm 110:1-7 The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”  The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion; you will rule in the midst of your enemies.  Your troop will be willing on your day of battle.  Arrayed in holy majesty, from the womb of the dawn you will receive the dew of your youth.  The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind: You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”  The Lord is at your right hand; He will crush kings on the day of His wrath.  He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth.  He will drink from a brook beside the way; therefore He will lift up His head.

HOLY AND AWESOME

August 31 Psalm 111:1-10 Praise the Lord.  I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly.  Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.  Glorious and majestic are His deeds, and His righteousness endures forever.  He has caused His wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate.  He provides food for those who fear Him; He remembers His covenant forever.  He has shown His people the power of His works, giving them the lands of other nations.  The works of His hands are faithful and just; all His precepts are trustworthy.  They are steadfast for ever and ever, done in faithfulness and uprightness.  He provided redemption for His people; He ordained His covenant forever–holy and awesome is His name.  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts have good understanding.  To Him belongs eternal praise.

MY PORTION

September 1 Psalm 119:57-58, 62-64 You are my portion, O Lord; I have promised to obey your words.  I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.  At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws.  I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts.  The earth is filled with your love, O Lord; teach me your decrees.

THE MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH

September 2 Psalm 121:1-8 I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.  He will not let your foot slip—He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.  The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.  The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.

THE BRANCH OF THE LORD

September 3 Isaiah 4:2 In that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel.

A CANOPY

September 4 Isaiah 4:5-6 The Lord will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy.  It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.

OUR GOD FOR EVER AND EVER

August 22 Psalm 48:10-14 Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness.  Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments.  Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation.  For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.

OUR GUIDE EVEN TO THE END

August 23 Psalm 48:10-14 Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness.  Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments.  Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation.  For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.

THE ROCK THAT IS HIGHER THAN I

August 24 Psalm 61:1-5 Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.  From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.  For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.  For I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.  For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL

August 25 Psalm 89:14-18 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.  Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord.  They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness.  For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor you exalt our horn.  Indeed, our shield belongs to the Lord, our king to the Holy One of Israel.

OUR DWELLING PLACE

August 26 Psalm 90:1-2 Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations.  Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

THE ROCK OF OUR SALVATION

August 27 Psalm 95:1-7a Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.  Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.  For the Lord is the great God, the Great King above all gods.  In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him.  The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker, for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.

THE LORD OF ALL THE EARTH

August 28 Psalm 97:4-7, 9 His (the Lord’s) lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles.  The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth.  The heavens proclaim His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory.  All who worship images are put to shame, those who boast in idols—worship Him, all you gods. For you, O Lord, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.

The Lydia Circle “Down by the Riverside Morning Glory” Prayer Gathering August 28 at Hart Plaza at 7 AM

“Again I say unto you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven” ( Matt. 18:19 NKJV)

I love to  prayer corporately with my Lydia Circle Christian and Professional Buinsess Women or my intercessory prayer team at church. When we are on one accord in agreement on the prayer focus, even if the tune varies, it is heavenly, powerful and delivering.

Corporate prayer is important  to our Father because he wants believers to come together to pray. He wants to bring the church together to pray. He gives  a promise of faithfulness and more to those who are willing to press their way to come together to pray on one accord in “agreement”. Praying women and men in agreement energizes our praying.

The scripture lets us know that  a special power is promised  through corporate prayer. God can do things through agreeing prayers of the church , just like we see in the book of Acts when the church  came together, that He may not do(  He is sovereign ) through individual efforts.  Author Sue Curran wrote in “The Power of Agreement in Corporate Prayer” as follows:

The prayer ministry of the church accomplishes much. The prayer gathering does more than enlarge the channel through which God will bless and give victory to His people; it actually moves us into an entirely different realm of power.

...

We move in  a realm in which results are calculated exponentially. We move from the realm of addition to that of  multiplication. …Corporate praying is the key to exponential power in prayer.  See Sue Curran “the Praying Church: Principles and Power of Corporate Praying”.

When every one is praying in “symphony” and is playing the same piece- a concert, according to the will of  God , He moves to answer, deliever and heal.

If you cannot attend this prayer gathering, join us where you are and let us know . Send your prayer focus  or requests to ldfaygo@aol.com or post them in the comment

It’s All About You! Selfless Prayer by Minister Jacqui Showers

It’s All About You!

Selfless Prayer

Several years ago in a discussion with my sister and mentor, Portia (who since has gone to be with the Lord), who was telling me that she had reached a dry place in her life when it came to prayer. It seemed as though she had difficulty praying for others. Both of us found it interesting.

I’ve come to realize that there are times when you want to pray for others, but you can only pray for yourself. Oftentimes what we find ourselves doing is trying to force a situation when God is beckoning you to spend some quality time with Him. Stealing away for personal prayer with God allows you to find yourself all over again and gain the strength you need to fulfill the assignment God has for your life.

Jesus stole away to have personal time with God.  When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane He didn’t pray for anyone, but Himself. He asked God to allow the cup to pass from Him and he ended the pray surrendering His will to the will of God. There are things in our lives that appear insurmountable that it is hard to focus on anything else but our own needs. These are not so much selfish times as they are selfless times.

A selfish person will keep pushing themselves pouring out when they know they have nothing else to give. A selfless person realizes that it is time for them to pull away in order for them to become rejuvenated to endure to the end and to be able to effectively minister to others.

There are seasons when you go to call out for others and you find yourself calling out for yourself. There are seasons when that is all you can focus on is your own concerns and cares. Try as you may to pray for others, your circumstances and needs supersedes and take precedence over those of others.

You see, God instructed us to love Him first, then others and finally ourselves. Because he knew that there comes a time when you have to minister to your own personal needs. There comes a time when you have to turn your back on the cares of this world in order for you to get into the face of God. You will never become all God envisioned if you don’t spend that quality time with Him by yourself and on your behalf. During this time you are able to curl up in His arms and tell Him all your concerns and fears. It is during this time that your soul is being renewed to accomplish the tasks that he has set before you.

When we don’t make time for these special moments, we miss God and all that He has for us. It is in this intimate encounter with God that we begin to know ourselves and the will He has for our lives.

So, go ahead and pull away. Whether its in your prayer closet, prayer chair or wherever, pray for yourself. It is not a selfish act, but a selfless act when we go to our Father so He can pour into us in order for us to acquire the strength we need to fulfill the assignment. It is only then you can truly help someone else. Now, you can say, “It is not all about me, but it is about You (God and others).

SCRIPTURES

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto his disciples, Sit ye here, while I go yonder and pray. Matt 26:36 (ASV)

After walking a little farther, he quickly bowed with his face to the ground and prayed, “Father, if it’s possible, let this cup {of suffering} be taken away from me. But let your will be done rather than mine.” Matt 26:39 (GW)

At that time Jesus went to a mountain to pray. He spent the whole night in prayer to God. When it was day, he called his disciples. He chose twelve of them and called them apostles. Luke 6:12-13 (GW)

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Phil 4:6 (KJV)

PRAY

Father, Sometimes I want to cry out for you on behalf of others, yet I find myself discussing my own needs and concerns. It is not that I don’t care about others, but it is because I need more of you to strengthen me in order that I can go out and be an effective change agent for you. Bless me not to feel guilty about this time I so desperately need to spend with You. Teach me how to embrace these moments as instrumental in my spiritual growth. It is when I come to You with all my concerns, I am able to envision myself as You do and to help others do the same. Amen.

LORD, THE GOD OF TRUTH- Sunday

August 15 Psalm 31:1-8 In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness.  Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.  Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.  Free me from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge.  Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me from the trap that is set before me, for you are my refuge.  Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O Lord, the God of truth.  I hate those to cling to worthless idols, I trust in the Lord.  I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul.  You have not handed me over to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.

MY HIDING PLACE        -Monday

August 16 Psalm 32:6-7 Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him.  You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

MY HELP AND MY DELIVERER- Tuesday

August 17 Psalm 40:17 Yet I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do not delay.

THE LIVING GOD -Wednesday

August 18 Psalm 42:1-2 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When can I go and meet with God?

AN EVER-PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE- Thursday

August 19 Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

THE LORD MOST HIGH – Friday

August 20 Psalm 47:1-2 Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.  How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth!  He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet.  He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom He loved.  God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.  Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.

THE GREAT KING OVER ALL THE EARTH- Saturday

August 21 Psalm 47:1-2 Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.  How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth!  He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet.  He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom He loved.  God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.  Since praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.

Ingredients for Prayer: A Practical Approach for Maximizing Your Time with God

Ingredients for Prayer   Author: Eric Lambert

In times of economic turmoil in the lives of so many, people are turning to whatever financial bailout that comes their way. These stimulus packages include reduced costs for services, rebates, two for one deals, and even prayer. The Rev. Eric A. Lambert Jr. believes prayer is the stimulus to improving people’s lives not as a gimmick but by, for one, giving them peace even though they have a bleak financial outlook.

“Through prayer we find a place that guarantees peace,” Rev. Lambert says. “God wants to solve our problems and give us peace.” In his latest book, Ingredients for Prayer: A Practical Approach for Maximizing Your Time with God, Rev. Lambert, pastor of Bethel Deliverance International Church north of Philadelphia, details what he believes is the true purpose of prayer in contrast to the ‘give me syndrome’ of prayer that so many with financial woes seem to have.

“We are often challenged by the worldly view of prayer, and we fall into the trap that makes us think that we are able to use prayer to bully the Lord into doing what we want. Yet I believe prayer is a time for intimacy and connection with God,” Rev. Lambert says. “Prayer by definition is worshipful oratory. By hyper-definition, prayer is an act of intercourse with your soul and God’s spirit. It is you connecting with God until your desires have been replaced by His heart.”

By using “The Lord’s Prayer” as a framework, he examines pieces of this prayer model to show ways to connect with God, like understanding the mind and will of God and becoming dependent upon and receiving the peace of God. Rev. Lambert says having a God-centered and not self-centered focus on prayer helps you to know that “[p]rayer is not about you. It is about the will of the Lord being done through you. To make supplication means that you should bring your request to the Lord; however, you must be sure that your request does not go against the will of the Lord.”

Rev. Eric A. Lambert Jr. responded to God’s call to Jesus Christ in 1971. From that time he was active in Christian ministry, serving in a variety of capacities at Deliverance Evangelistic Church, under the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. Benjamin Smith Sr. In 1987, after God’s leading, Rev. Lambert established Bethel Deliverance International Church in 1987 with seven committed believers, just north of his hometown of Philadelphia. In addition to pastoring, Rev. Lambert is fulfilling his apostolic calling, having planted a number of churches and developed pastoral relationships with both new and seasoned pastors. He remains committed to spreading the love of God to those who do not know Him while stabilizing and fortifying believers. This is evident not only in his church but in the messages of his books.

BOOK REVIEW by Linda Fegins

” The right way to pray , then is the way that allows us to communicate with God. For prayer is not ritual; it is the souls’ inherent response to a relationship with a loving Father.” -Collen Townsend Evans

We have heard that the Lord is just a prayer away. “O what needless pain webcover[1]we bear, all because we do not carry everything to the Lord in prayer” the song goes.  Rev. Lambert points out in his book “Ingredients for Prayer: A Practical Approach to Maximizing Your Time With God”,  that “teach us how to pray is often the hearts cry of the believer in the world today”.  Prayer, simply put, is communication with God.  As a Prayer Coordinator for the Lydia Circle of  Christian Professional and  Business Women, I pray with and “teach” women how to pray. On the first day of the “prayer boot camp” I tell them that as “you begin your journey into prayer, one of the main reasons for prayer is to grow a relationship with God by spending time with Him”.

Rev.  Lambert, using the Model Prayer, provides the reader with some simple, but profound principles about prayer’s purpose and results, couched in easy to understand language. He also enunciates practical and straightforward steps to praying effectively. He points out that contrary to our cultural influences to “use prayer to bully the Lord into doing what we want” and for material gain, the purpose of prayer is to build a personal relationship with the Father. “Prayer is going to God and asking for His will, not things”, he remarks.  Lambert uses Jesus as a model of how to pray effectively as Jesus both needed and desired time with God and gives us the ingredients for prayer. What Lambert makes clear is that “prayer must be about getting closer to the Father and knowing and receiving His will”.

This wonderful little book shares many rich prayer nuggets about knowing what to pray for, “praying it through” ,  how “prayer is work” and praying for others. As a Prayer Coordinator, it affirmed my teaching on prayer, enhanced my insight, and inspired me to encourage the woman to grow to a higher prayer level.

Worshiping Christ and Praying for His Rule/Presence Using 153 of His Names and Attributes

Let’s continue daily to pray to the Lord by worshipping  Him according to His great attributes.

AN INVITATION TO CHRISTIANS ACROSS AMERICA:

TO UNITE IN WORSHIPING CHRIST AND IN PRAYING FOR HIS LORDSHIP IN EVERY PERSON, PLACE AND SITUATION IN OUR NATION

 When: August 1 – December 31, 2010

How: Worshiping Christ and Praying for His Rule/Presence Using 153 of His Names and Attributes

WHAT WE ARE PROPOSING WITH THESE NAMES AND ATTRIBUTES OF CHRIST

The 153 names and attributes of Christ  are meant to be a “Portrait of Christ”, from the Old and New Testaments.  Christ fulfills all the promises, prophecies, revelations and works of God, and He is vast beyond compare.  At this crucial time in history, He alone is our hope.  Man’s best plans and resources are grossly inadequate to overcome the challenges and needs of the Church and all people.   Fellow Christians–from every congregation, ministry, ethnic group, age , gender and city in America—let us unite in using these 153 names and attributes of Christ to: (1) know Him more (2) worship and honor Him continually, and (3) fervently pray that He will rule and reign in our lives, in every other person in our spheres of influence, and in every person, place and situation across this nation (especially in our local and national leaders).

Pray a new atttibute every other day.

THE KING OF GLORY

August 12 Thursday

Psalm 24:7-10 Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.  Who is this King of glory?  The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.  Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.  Who is He, this King of glory?  The Lord Almighty—He is the King of glory.

MY SHEPHERD Wednesday

August 11 Psalm 23:1-6 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.  He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Continue to Pray fervently each day.
