Back to School with God Part II- Prayer Points for School Children by Linda Fegins

Last week I mentioned how women gathered to pray for their children and the Detroit Public School system and other school systems on the last Saturday in August early in the morning at 7 A.M.. You will see below a video of one of the fervent prayers that went forth. It will bless your soul. I forgot to mention that some fathers gathered with us to pray as well. That touched my heart to see fathers praying for their children and calling for other fathers to pray for and take a stand for their children. These fathers challenged fathers to join them in walking their children to school on the first day of school.

Our community and cities around the world must cry out to the Lord for the students, teachers and school staff in their congregations and those who participate in the educational system. I praise God for the influence and impact of our collective prayers on the students and staff. Cry out today “Lord bless our schools”, See Lam 2:19 and then also specifically and scripturally pray the prayers below or as led by the Holy Spirit.

Through prayer, families, our children’s lives, and our world can be changed. God will show us how to use the power that believers have within through the Holy Spirit to transform our schools and deliver them from violence, disorganization, and poor administration. Through united consistent prayer, God will give us the power, wisdom, knowledge, and creativity to solve the many school problems that plague our city schools and school board. We must put what I call “some feet on our prayers”. Through prayer the right leaders will arise to enable the community to come together to take productive and strategic action.

What can you do first of all? Pray. Wednesday I will identify other action steps you can take.

Listen to the fervent heartfelt prayer of Minister Jacqui Showers for our students and school system. After the video, I listed specific prayers you can pray for our children. Pray them. Wednesday I will give prayer points to pray for teachers and the administration followed up with prayers for parents. Please let me know if you are joining in prayer with me for our children.

Pray:
• Daily pray for the safety of our children and that God will deliver them from evil and thwart every scheme of the enemy. Lord we pray that you cover the children and youth through the blood and “stay the hand of violence against the children and staff of the school. Dismantle any plan to bring harm to them. Expose any weapon brought on the school premises and render it harmless”. (From Power-Packed Prayers for Public Schools by Ida Rose Heckard)

• Pray for those students that experience rejection and bullying from other students and teachers. Pray that God deliver them from evil and bind and cast out violence and degradation. Ask God to provide children with people that love and respect them unconditionally. (John 13:34; Romans 15:7) Pray that the school is sensitive to these issues and address them effectively.

• Pray that our children will be open to learning new knowledge and to acquire both secular and spiritual knowledge. Pray that God would give them the wisdom to know how to understand and use that knowledge and they use it rightly and for good. (Proverbs 22:6) (2 Timothy 2:15)

• Pray for our sons and daughters to make wise choices and to develop solid friendships with those who are following God. (Psalms 144; 12-15)

• Pray for relief of those children who are homeless and need shelter, food and health care. Pray that Christ will restore their home for the future. (Psalms 107:41)

• Ask God to cause your children to be examples for believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. (I Timothy 4:12).

• Pray for those students that are struggling academically. Ask God to encourage them and strengthen their minds. Pray that God will give their teachers and parent’s wisdom to know how to best help them learn.

• Pray that students will not feel like failures, but will learn discipline and know that God loves them. (I Thessalonians 5:14)

• Pray that the Lord encourage those children who have special needs and “who have struggled with their studies to strengthen their minds. Help the teachers and parents know how to help them learn and protect them from feelings of worthlessness and shame. ( I Thess 5:14)” (From Ida Rose Heckard)

Honoring and Praying for Fathers by Linda Fegins

Honoring and Praying for Fathers by Linda Fegins

On Radio station 1200 AM, John Mason, of Mason in the Afternoon, was asking for positive reflections and comments about one’s father, grandfather or a father figure. One reflection, by a man who called into the radio station to comment, touched my heart. He stated that his father taught him many things by his actions. He said he learned how to be a father and the protector of his family from his father. “When I was about 7 years old I went “trick or treating” on Halloween with some friends”, said the caller. “ A bigger boy stole our bags. All I could remember was seeing a flash go by and jump the fence. Next thing I knew I had my Halloween bag back. It was my father who jumped that fence. He had been watching and covering me all the time”. That story brought tears to my eyes because the actions of the father symbolized the love the heavenly Father has for us in that he watches over us and protects us. For the now grown caller it taught him how to watch over his family. Another gentleman called in and stated he “learned how to respect women because of how he saw his father respect and treat his mother”.

The week prior to Father’s Day I challenged men and women to share positive comments and reflections about their father. Kimberly Bracey Superintendent of Sunday School, Minetta Hare, entrepreneur and missionary, and Renee Wallace ,known as the Chief Doer and strategist, shared some warm and loving comments about their fathers. Terrence Wilson, author of In Search of a Father wrote More Than A Provider and Bobby Ray Ivory, Jr., success coach and speaker, shared Five Things A Father Should Teach His Children. Author and wife coach, Venus Mason Theus shared how God healed a breached relationship with her father which has resulted in a wonderful daughter father relationship.

Please leave your positive comment and reflections about your father, grandfather, stepdad or father figure.

Prayer for Fathers

Lord in the name of Jesus, we thank you for fathers who love, train, provide for and protect their children. We pray that fathers will look to God as their ultimate spiritual father of their household, serving and caring for their children and families; we pray that absentee fathers would change their mindset and lifestyles to nurture a relationship with their children. We pray that the Lord will turn the hearts of the father toward their children and the hearts of the children toward their fathers. Malachi 4:6. We pray that children will see the godly character of the heavenly Father in the lives of their dads.
Lord we thank you that you are a Father to the fatherless and One who will never leave nor forsake us. Lord raise up fathers in the church and community to love, nurture, instruct and guide those in need of a father’s blessing. Lord turn the hearts of the fathers toward their children and the children toward their fathers. We pray for single fathers who are raising their children without a spouse to share the love and responsibility for their upbringing. Lord we pray about the disintegration of the family unit in our land, and ask God to restore the foundations both in and out of the church. Psalm 68:5-6; Proverbs 17:6 In the name of Jesus Amen.

“A Time of Repentance” by Linda Fegins

The Lenten Season (February 22 to April 7) is a time of repentance, self-examination, fasting and prayer in preparation for Resurrection Sunday (Easter). “Renewing our sense of who we really are before God is the core of the Lenten experience”. (Pastor Orville K.Littlejohn, my Pastor, “Our Focus for Ash Wednesday”). So today seek God with a repentant heart (See Joel 2: 12-24) and let us honestly search our hearts (Psalm 139:23-24). Here is an example of a prayer of repentance to help you get started in initating self-examination , prayer and a spirit of repentance. Then we will examine what is repentance and why it is important to our prayer lives and our relationship with God.

A Prayer of Repentance
Lord, I come humbly before You and ask you to cleanse my heart of my every sin. “Have mercy on me O, Lord according to your loving kindness and blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly of my iniquity and cleanse me of all of my sin. (Psalm 51:1-2) Lord create in me a clean heart. Please Lord renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:10-11). Forgive me for thoughts I have had, words I have spoken and things that I have done that are not pleasing in your sight and do not glorify you. Father, forgive me I pray for my sins of_______(state them)________________________. I confess it is a sin and truly repent of these acts, words and thoughts. ( 1 John 1:9; Psalm 32:5 Proverbs 28:13, Psalm 51:6, 10). Lord search the inwards hidden places of my heart and reveal my sin to me that I may not see. (Psalm 139: 23-24). I seek to repent of everything that You show me Lord. I confess my sins to you in the full realization that you are faithful and just to forgive me of all my sins and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness.( 1John 1:9) I know that my sins are against You and You only. Grant me a broken, willing spirit and a contrite heart so I can offer it to You (Psalm 51:1-4, Psalm. 51:12, Psalm 51:17).

Thank you Father. I desire to obey your commandments and statutes. I choose to stop my sinful ways and to turn to walk upright. Help me, Lord God to bring forth fruits that are worthy of repentance (Luke 3:8). Lord I want to live a righteous, pure and holy life through your power (Colossians 1:11). I am determined to walk in the Spirit and in your ways and walk away from my sins by the power of the Holy Ghost. Grant me a godly sorrow that is not just full of regret because of the consequences of sin but sorrow that leads to true repentance (2 Corinthians 7:9-10). Lord give me a tender heart that is sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and the conviction of sin. Holy Spirit, thank You for convicting me of my sin. Forgive me for the ways I’ve ignored Your voice and quenched and grieved You. (John 16:8; Ephesians. 4:30; 1 Thessalonians 5:19; Romans. 8:1-2). Lord I praise you, Father, for your goodness that leads to repentance (Romans 2:4). Lord thank you for restoring my soul so that the times of refreshing my come (Acts 3:19). Amen.

It is important to note that a repentant heart is not limited to a special season or time of the year. If we want to have effective prayer lives which bring forth life transformation and healing of the land, repentance must become a part of our lifestyle. Despite the benefits of repentance, we are resistant to the thought of repentance. Repentance isn’t a popular word. Our culture encourages us to do whatever we want when we want. TV, music videos and movies very rarely show the consequences of our sins.

It is one thing to know that you have done something that is wrong . But it is another to be saddened and sorrowful about your actions and determine that you will turn away from that sin and never do the act again. To repent “I” or “we” must come to terms with and acknowledge that we have sinned and then turn away from such sinful behavior and be reconciled back to our loving Lord. Therefore, repentance is a change of mind that involves both a turning from sin and turning to God. Christ began his ministry with a call to repentance. (Mathew. 4:17). We must examine every attitude, every motive, every action and ever word of evil. Repentance means that you are deeply godly sorrowful and hurt about what you have done unto the Lord and that you are determined to do all that you can not to commit that sin again. “Repentance means we are sorry about our sin to the point of grief, and we have turned and walked away from it”. Stormie Omartian, “The Power of a Praying Woman” p. 40, Harvest House Publishers,(2002).

Charles Spurgeon writes:
Repentance is a discovery of the evil of sin, a mourning that we have committed it, a resolution to forsake it. It is, in fact, a change of mind of a very deep and practical character, which makes the man love what once he hated, and hate what once he loved.
J. I. Packer writes:
Repentance means turning from as much as you know of your sin to give as much as you know of yourself to as much as you know of your God, and as our knowledge grows at these three points so our practice of repentance has to be enlarged.

Before we can truly repent we must admit our sins and tell them to God. Confession means we recognize we have done wrong and admit it. We cannot hide from God no matter how we try. God knows what “I” have done and wants “me and you” to know and admit in detail what “I” have done. Dick Eastman, in “The Hour That Changes the World”, says, “Confession is a heartfelt recognition of what we are. It is important to God because it indicates that we take seriously our mistakes and failures. Of course, God does not ask us to confess our sins because He needs to know we have sinned, but because He knows that we need to know we have sinned”. Dick Eastman, “The Hour That Changes the World”,p.42 , Baker Book House, (1999). If we do not confess our sins one consequence is that our prayer life will suffer as God will not hear our prayers if we have iniquity in our hearts (Psalm 66:18).

God offers many wonderful results of repentance, including healing, restoring, freedom, joy and reconciliation. In Acts 3:19 the call to repentance invites you to “repent, then turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord”.

Action Steps:
1. During the Lenten season I want to encourage you to join this or a 40 day Prayer Journey even if you are beginning at day 7 or whatever day. Just begin where you are. Determine to spend quality time with the Lover(God) of your soul every day. Decide to start out with half an hour and increase it slowly. Be diligent and be faithful. We can never grow or develop an intimate relationship with God unless we spend quality time with Him.
2. Confess any sin you may be guilty of against man and God. Ask God to search you and reveal any unconfessed sin.
3. Say or write a prayer of repentance out of your heart. Above is an example of a prayer of repentance. Your prayer need not be perfect, but sincere, sorrowful and heartfelt.
4. Have a journal. God has so much to speak into your life. It may not happen overnight if you haven’t been praying on a consistent basis. But remember He is right there. Don’t give up.
5. Leave a prayer request.
6. Listen to a corporate Prayer of Repentance and other prayers by Evangelist Rita Green and Missionary Minetta Hare on blogtalk radio “The New Voice”.”A Time to Pray” Click on http://tobtr.com/s/2822019 .

Pray Blessings Over Our Schools: United Community Prayer

Pray Blessings Over Our Schools: United Community Prayer for Our Children and Schools by Linda Fegins

It’s back to school time. There have been back to school rallies and groups interested in addressing youth concerns. For example City of Detroit Council Members Saunteel Jenkins and James Tate held the Youth Violence Prevention Task Force’s first Back to School Youth Explosion on Saturday, September 3rd, 2011.The free event featured workshops for both kids and parents on issues affecting youth aged 12-18 including violence and sexual health concerns.

Rallies are great, but we also need to call for united prayer for the lives of children attending schools and “put feet to our prayers”. Many ministries have been calling for prayer for the children, teachers, administrators and school staff as they return back to school. On one 5am morning prayer conference call on My Girlfriends’ Business , Chief Girlfriend visionary Jillian Blackwell- a wife, mother of three boys and a business owner asked for prayer for the school children, teachers and administrators. The Messiah Baptist Church Intercessory Prayer Team under the guidance of Kimberly Bracey ( Intercessory Prayer Team Leader Linda Fegins) as well as various ministries , such as the Lydia Circle for Christian Business and Professional Women Prayer Team ( Director Min. Jacqui Showers ) will hold prayer meetings by conference call, three way telephone calls and at church , praying this week for protection, guidance and wisdom for our school children , youth and college students , parents and educators.

There is no doubt that “Moms In Touch International” (MITI) founded by Fern Nichols, a group of mothers around the country who simply desire to affect communities and schools through the power of prayer have been going before the throne of God. “The 27-year-old prayer ministry, Moms In Touch International has one goal–to gather women together to pray scripturally and specifically for children and schools. Mothers in more than 130 countries around the world meet regularly, spending an hour praying at least once a week.”(MITI purpose statement). They serve as prayer warriors who battle in the spiritual realm for the lives of children and teenagers as they go off to school for at least one hour every week. They are women united with one purpose: a passion to pray for children and they believe that prayer makes a difference. Read the rest of this entry »

Praying for the Ministry and Business of Minetta Hare- Remember Lydia -a Christian Entrepreneur Acts 16: 13-15, 40

I praise you , Creator God for making men and women in Your own image. Give creativity and good ideas to Your children who serve you in the marketplace. Fill them with your Holy Spirit, granting them the skills, abilities and knowledge needed to accomplish their tasks and goals and to glorify You. (Gen 1:27; Ex 21:3) Give them decisionmaking wisdom. God give Christians in the marketplace a spirit of wisdom and revelation so they can know and follow you in their work.( Eph 1:17; Prov 3:5-6; Is 30:21). God you hold the hearts of kings in Your hands. We ask that our Christian borthers and sisters in the workplace will find favor with key people. (Dan1:9; Eccl 4: 9-12) Grant them favor and may marketplace believers pursue excellence to your Glory. ( Prov 21:1; Phil 4:8) ( excerpt from Strategic Prayers for Marketplace Influencers by Arlyn Lawrence)

5 AM Praying with My Girlfriends’ Business. Chief Girlfriend and visionary Jillian Blackwell, and the women on the prayer call, for the month of August are praying for a girlfriend’s business or ministry each day. Since January 2011,daily women consistently join the 5 AM prayer call every morning all over the nation,- New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, etc to seek the Lord ,to pray for others, themselves and for their girlfriends’ business.

Many believers are business owners or have key positions in business. Christians in the workplace and business owners should have a practical and spiritual influence in the community. In the bible Lydia was a business woman who was a seller of purple dye and an influential women. While Lydia, who worshipped the one God of the Jews, and a group of others were praying by the riverside, they encountered Paul and Silas. Paul related to them the Gospel. Lydia opened her ears and heart and became the first Christian convert . She was baptized and then her household. She became a Christian and a marketplace influencer. The Bible states that she urged Paul to abide in her home and opened her home to Christian missionaries. She opened her doors when Paul and Silas came out of prison for healing a demented girl to her right mind. Acts 16:16 While serving Christians it seems that Lydia continued to carry on her business.

Believers should pray for entrepreneurs. Look at how businesses affect our economy and the workplace. We want God to move powerfully in the lives of business owners who operate in integrity and excellence. For example, on August 9, 2011, (yesterday) we prayed for Missionary/Evangelist Minetta Hare -a global focused woman, who empowers women in prayer, training, coaching, global missions and in global entrepreneurship. Her ministry is Faith At Work Ministries and one of her businesses is the Hare Group International. Minetta is the founder and visionary of Lydia Circle for Christian Business and Professional Women, Faith At Work Ministries and Men of Valor. She is a global woman that has a hands on ministry for serving woman and men in time of need and as they rise in their ministry or business with love, prayer, wisdom, frankness, compassion and the gift of hospitality. She does missions and business globally and has served in South Africa ( over 12 mission trips), Ghana, Israel, Jamaica and etc.

Join us in praying for her specific prayer requests and for what the Holy Spirit places in your heart. You may be led to partner with her or to contact her. Minetta’s ministry and one of her businesses and the specific prayer requests are as follows:

Faith At Work Ministries
Preparing, Training, Equipping & Mobilizing Laborers & Servant Leaders for
God’s Harvest Field, the World
Matthew 28:18-20, Isaiah 61:1-3, 2 Timothy 2:2 describe what we believe God has called us to do –make disciples of all nations by the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.
Preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ through many means – economic empowerment and business development, trade missions, entrepreneurial training, medical outreaches, building schools and medical facilities, or one-on-one sharing the gospel. The greatest mission field today is the marketplace. Jesus recruited His disciples, who had occupations and professions as fishermen and tax collector from the marketplace. This probably sounds like more than any one ministry can do- and it is! Because of this, God has brought together a team of dedicated men and women to work with us to carry out this vision which is really HIS VISION.

PRAYER REQUESTS:
EXCELLENT HEALTH FOR MINISTRY TEAM
FINANCIAL RESOURCES

Setting Goals for the New Year- Start with Prayer…

Without prayer no work is well done” Anonymous

Embark upon no enterprise you cannot submit to the test of prayer”.

Today is January 17th, 2011, the day we honor Martin Luther King’s birthday and remember the DREAM. What dreams do you have in your heart that will make a difference in the lives of others as well as for you and your family? To carry out the dream we need to write our goals and action steps that will help us live out the dream. It is a good thing to have dreams, goals and to write specific goals ( see Pam Perry article http://ladyof prayer.com/?p=284 ). However, one ” first thing or goal” needs to be sought first. The first goal we should have is to develop, improve, and seek an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in prayer ( and study of His Word.). God wants a relationship with us/you. We should press, stretch and get out of our comfort zones to maintain a prayer relationship with Him. It is the goal that will have eternal benefits. It is the goal that will give us power, wisdom and guidance about all of our other goals such as improving family relationships, getting out of debt, starting that buisness, writing that book , starting an exercise plan or healing the relationship issues between balkc women and men(See thought rovoking articles by Gary Hardwick on this issue) Prayer is the key to unlocking God’s power in your life to carry out what God has placed in your heart.

Here is an article that arrested me by Phil Miglioratti, a member of the Church Prayer Leaders Network of which I am a member, about making prayer a priority life-style commitment as the one true foundational goal.

It Seems To Me . . by Phil Miglioratti

. . . we need only one spiritual new year’s resolution.
I confess, I have never been good at setting, let alone keeping, resolutions at the start of each new year. Those who stop smoking or start diets impress me; those who keep at it longer than a few days (or hours) make me jealous. And those who go beyond good health resolutions and set spiritual goals and stick to them throughout the coming months shame and humble me.

Anyone can make a resolution; it takes commitment to stay resolved to fight the battles to achieve the objective. And commitment, someone said, is moving beyond good intentions. I have a long list of good intentions.
Which is why Don Whitney’s “Questions for a New Year” in LifeWay’s Pastors Today E-letter caught my attention. The author, a former pastor and then seminary professor, presents 31 questions designed to aid our spiritual transformation; one-a-day spiritual vitamins! He writes: “The beginning of a new year is an ideal time to stop, look up and get our bearings.” I especially appreciate how he then formats his insights as questions because someone elses’ declarations call for my agreement (not a bad thing) but questions call for my reflection and discernment. Much more potential of Holy Spirit partnership.
But I said we need only one spiritual new year’s resolution, not 31.

“For starters, here are 10 questions to ask prayerfully in the presence of God,” Whitney begins as he sets us on our journey with wisdom that is so obvious we often fly right past it! How many of us have prayed about our resolutions but only after we selected them. “Help me lose those 5 extra pounds or start each day at the fitness center or stop this or begin that”–probably all worthy goals but chosen without and before any prayerful dialog with the Lord.
I began reading down the list of questions . . .

1. What’s one thing you could do this year to increase your enjoyment of God?
2. What’s the most humanly impossible thing you will ask God to do this year?
3. What’s the single most important thing you could do to improve the quality of your family life this year?
4. In which spiritual discipline do you most want to make progress this year, and what will you do about it?
5. What is the single biggest time-waster in your life, and what will you do about it this year?
6. What is the most helpful new way you could strengthen your church?
7. For whose salvation will you pray most fervently this year?
8. What’s the most important way you will, by God’s grace, try to make this year different from last year?
9. What one thing could you do to improve your prayer life this year?
10. What single thing that you plan to do this year will matter most in 10 years? In eternity?

I searched first for any questions that related specifically to prayer and found #7, praying for lost persons to find Christ (imagine what changes our nation would see if every Christ-follower began to seriously pray for his or her neighbors by name and need and for his or her neighborhoods and networks!) and #9, focusing specifically on our own prayer life (someone said we need to exchange a prayer life [usually referring to a brief time spent telling God what we need Him to do] for a life of prayer). Two in the first ten seemed like better representation for prayer than usual. Very hopeful.
My second time through the list was an “Ah-Ha” moment!

Responding to the first, then the second and third and continuing, I realized “Pray” would be a more than appropriate answer to each question.
1. What’s one thing you could do this year to increase your enjoyment of God? Pray. True prayer is enjoying the presence of God, not merely telling him things he already knows.
2. What’s the most humanly impossible thing you will ask God to do this year? Pray. Praying is very hard work that, once accomplished, sees impossible results.
3. What’s the single most important thing you could do to improve the quality of your family life this year? Pray. Especially out loud, together.
4. In which spiritual discipline do you most want to make progress this year, and what will you do about it? Pray. Pray for a partner who will hold me accountable.
5. What is the single biggest time-waster in your life, and what will you do about it this year? Pray. What I do instead of praying is a huge time-waster.
6. What is the most helpful new way you could strengthen your church? Pray. For the pastor. For a reviving of faith and a revising of how we function.
7. For whose salvation will you pray most fervently this year? Pray. Everyone agrees with this but not everyone brings up in heaven real names of real people.
8. What’s the most important way you will, by God’s grace, try to make this year different from last year? Pray. By praying about and for and through every thing.
9. What one thing could you do to improve your prayer life this year? Pray. Read, study, use website resources, yes, but actually carve out time and place to pray.
10. What single thing that you plan to do this year will matter most in 10 years? In eternity? Pray. Hands-down winner. Everything (missions, evangelism, stewardship) flows from the life of a person who has moved beyond good intentions to a life of prayer.

It seems to me . . . we need only one word to describe our one spiritual new year’s resolution. (If you do not agree, will you at least agree to pray about it?)
For starters, here are 10 questions to ask prayerfully in the presence of God.

Prayer and Fasting: Lord Draw Me Into A Closer Walk With Thee

“Prayer is the key that opens the storehouse of God’s infinite grace and power”. R. A. Torrey

” But He draws close to us as we draw close to Him”. James 4:8

As you set your goals for 2011, let your first goal be to seek the Lord and to increase your walk with Him by increasing your prayer life and bible study. Matthew 6:33 AMP states , ” But seek first of all His Kingdom and His righteousness, and then all these things taken together will be given you besides”. Prayer

“Lord, I draw close to You today, grateful that You will draw close to me as You promised in your Word ( James 4:8). I long to dwell in your presense and my desire is for a deeper and more intimate relationship with You.
God help me to set aside time each day to meet with you alone… Teach me to pray the way You want me to. Help me to learn more about you. ( Portions of prayer taken from ‘The Power of A Praying Woman” by Stormie Omartian)

One prayer warrior Alvin J. Vander Griend calls prayer “the talking part of the most important love relationship of your life”. God loves you so that, although He is sovereign, He has decided that He wants a relationship with you and to commune with you. Prayer is an awesome privilege .Two reasons for prayer is to develop a relationship with God and to release God’s will on earth.

You want to draw closer to Him and to know Him? You need answers? You want God to guide you as you set and carry out your goals ? Come join the 21 Day of Prayer and Fasting with myself and Minetta Hare of Faith at Work Ministries. Below is information Missionary Hare has supplied about the 21 Day Prayer and Fasting Journey.

So you may be starting a little after January 1 ,2011 but you can still do the following :

1. Determine to spend quality time with the Lover of your soul every day. Decide to start out with half an hour and increase it slowly. Be diligent and be faithful. We can never grow or develop an intimate relationship with God unless we spend quality time with Him.
2. Have a journal. God has so much to speak into your life. It may not happen overnight if you haven’t been praying on a consistent basis. But remember He is right there listening. Prayer is a dialogue. He wants you to listen also. Don’t give up. He hears the prayers of the righteous who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior and have no inquity in their heart against another.
3. Join the Global Prayer Force 21 Day Fasting and Prayer Journey led by Missionary Minetta Hare of Faith at Work Ministries. Below is information on getting started on the Prayer and Fasting Journey.

QUICK TIPS FOR FASTING
by Minetta Hare on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2:56pm

Be sure to consult your doctor before beginning any fast, especially if you have any type of medical condition.

How to Begin Start with a clear goal. Be specific. Why are you fasting? Do you need direction, healing, restoration of marriage or family issues? Are you facing financial difficulties? Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. Pray daily and read the Bible.

Preparing Spiritually Confess your sins to God. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas of weakness. Forgive all who have offended you and ask forgiveness from those you may have offended (Mark 11:25; Luke 11:4; 17:3-4). Surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ and reject the worldly desires that try to hinder you (Romans 12:1-2).

Deciding What to Fast The type of fasting you choose is up to you. You could go on a full fast in which you only drink liquids, or you may desire to fast like Daniel, who abstained from sweets and meats, and the only liquid he drank was water. Remember to replace that time with prayer and Bible study.

Deciding How Long You may fast as long as you like. Most can easily fast from one to three days, but you may feel the grace to go longer, even as much as 21 to 40 days. Use wisdom and pray for guidance. Beginners are advised to start slow.

What to Expect When you fast your body detoxifies, eliminating toxins from your system. This can cause mild discomfort such as headaches and irritability during withdrawal from caffeine and sugars. And naturally, you will have hunger pains. Limit your activity and exercise moderately. Take time to rest. Fasting brings about miraculous results. You are following Jesus’ example when you fast. Spend time listening to praise and worship. Pray as often as you can throughout the day. Get away from the normal distractions as much as possible and keep your heart and mind set on seeking God’s face.

How to End Don’t overeat when the time comes to end your fast. Begin eating solid food gradually; eat small portions or snacks.

PRAY, PRAY AND PRAY SOME MORE.

Praying As a United Community for Our Children, Teachers, Parents and Schools

Praying As a United Community for Our Children, Teachers, Parents and Schools by Linda D. Fegins

Pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children” (Lam. 2:19).

It’s back to school time. There have been back to school rallies. Many ministries have been calling for prayer for the children, teachers, administrators and school staff as they return back to school. The day of September 1, 2010  Messiah Baptist Church Intercessory Prayer Team under the guidance of Kimberly Bracey ( Team Leader Linda Fegins)  as well as  various ministries such as the Global Prayer Intercessors founded by Minetta Hare, and the Lydia Circle Prayer Team ( Director Linda Fegins)  held prayer meetings by conference call, three way telephone  calls and at church  praying for protection, guidance and wisdom for  our school children , youth and college students , parents and staff.  There is no doubt that “Moms In Touch International” (MITI) founded by Fern Nichols, a group of mothers around the country who simply desire to affect communities and schools through the power of prayer  have been going before the throne of  God. A diversified group of mothers of MITI serve as prayer warriors who battle in the spiritual realm for the lives of children and teenagers as they go off to school for at least one hour every week. They are women united with one purpose: a passion to pray for their children.

Through prayer, our lives, our children’s lives, and our world can be changed.  Public schools, such as the Detroit Public School system, and other inner-city schools around the nation with all the violence, disorganization, poor administration, and politics on the school boards   can be transformed by prayer. Then change will occur by our obedience if God calls us to action. He will show us how to use the power that believers have within through the Holy Spirit to transform our schools. Through united consistent prayer, God will   give us the power, wisdom, knowledge, and creativity to solve the many school problems that plague our city schools and school board. Through prayer the right leaders will arise and the community should be able to come together to take productive and strategic action.

Believe that intercessors can change your school district with the weapon of prayer. Believe that positive results will occur such as peace and safety, better test scores, higher graduation rates,   and more school funds to meet the needs of our children. Pray that student-led prayer groups will spring forth. Yes, the crisis in our schools is discouraging and is wide spread. But remember that where sin increases, grace increases all the more (see Ro. 5:20).

I know that many intercessors already have prayer assignments from the Lord. But I would challenge  the intercessors, parents and teachers to ask Him if He might also want you to “adopt” a public school for your prayer agenda.

Prayer Points for Our Children, Teachers, Parents and Administrators

Finally for what should we pray? We want to pray specifically and effectively on one accord. I have a few suggestions; some are what the Lord has given me and others I have gathered from other prayer warriors and other articles on prayer.

Children and Youth

Pray:

  • Daily for the safety of our children and that God will deliver them from evil and thwart every scheme of the enemy.
  • Pray that our children will be open to learning new knowledge and that God would give them the wisdom to know how to understand and use that knowledge. We need to pray that our children have the ability to discriminate between good knowledge and bad knowledge. Teach a child to choose the right path, and when he is older he will remain upon it. (Proverbs 22:6)
  •  Pray that our children will be serious minded and work hard to acquire both secular and spiritual knowledge. Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
  • Pray for the hearts of the students to be receptive to the gospel of peace and that God will call many to Himself. (Acts 2:38-40)
  • Pray for our sons and daughters to make wise choices and to develop solid friendships with those who are following God. (Psalms 144;12-15)
  • Pray for relief of those children who are homeless and need shelter, food and health care. Pray that Christ will restore their home for the future. (Psalms 107:41)
  • Ask God to cause your children to be examples for believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. (I Timothy 4:12)
  • Pray for those students that experience rejection and bullying from other students and teachers. Ask God to provide them with people that love and respect them unconditionally. (John 13:34; Romans 15:7)
  • Pray for those students that are struggling academically. Ask God to encourage them and strengthen their minds. Pray that God will give their teachers and parent’s wisdom to know how to best help them learn.
  • Pray they will not feel like failures, but will learn discipline. (I Thessalonians 5:14)

 Teachers

Pray:

  • Pray for our school teachers to have the wisdom needed to effectively impart knowledge to their students. A wise teacher makes learning a joy… (Proverbs 15:2a)
  • Pray for our school teachers that God will give them the grace to deal with day-to-day frustrations and problems.
  •  Pray that our school teachers would exhibit the life of Christ before our children. That they would be filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness.
  •  Pray to the one in charge of the harvesting, and ask him to recruit more effective teachers with integrity for our schools. ( See Matthew 9:38)
  • Ask God to rise up Godly educators who are dedicated to their field and can capture the hearts and minds of our nation’s youth on each level of education. (Colossians 1:9-10)
  • Pray our educators will pray unceasingly for guidance and wisdom to become the examples to their students. (I Peter 2:21) Pray they will know how to pray for their students.
  • Pray that teachers will impart godly wisdom to form godly character in their students. (Luke 6:40)

Parents

Pray:

  •  Pray for parents that they will love and support their children’s education at school, at home, and at church.
  • Pray for family stability and that God’s principles for the family will be honored and promoted in our schools. (Genesis 28:14)
  • Pray “Lord, without your help we are helpless, so as parents, be our guide as to how we can best communicate and encourage our teachers and how we can train our children.”

Administrators

  • Pray for the standard of excellence to be restored in our educational institutes and that our educators will pass on that spirit of excellence, requiring excellence, rather than sloth and ignorance. (Ecclesiastes 2:13-14)
  • Pray for the needed tools and proper facilities to teach our children.(Philippians 4:19)
  • Pray for the election of godly leaders on our school boards and in the administration of our schools. (I Timothy 2:1)
  • Pray for the support staff in the schools to treat the children with dignity and respect.

The Lydia Circle “Down by the Riverside Morning Glory” Prayer Gathering August 28 at Hart Plaza at 7 AM

“Again I say unto you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven” ( Matt. 18:19 NKJV)

I love to  prayer corporately with my Lydia Circle Christian and Professional Buinsess Women or my intercessory prayer team at church. When we are on one accord in agreement on the prayer focus, even if the tune varies, it is heavenly, powerful and delivering.

Corporate prayer is important  to our Father because he wants believers to come together to pray. He wants to bring the church together to pray. He gives  a promise of faithfulness and more to those who are willing to press their way to come together to pray on one accord in “agreement”. Praying women and men in agreement energizes our praying.

The scripture lets us know that  a special power is promised  through corporate prayer. God can do things through agreeing prayers of the church , just like we see in the book of Acts when the church  came together, that He may not do(  He is sovereign ) through individual efforts.  Author Sue Curran wrote in “The Power of Agreement in Corporate Prayer” as follows:

The prayer ministry of the church accomplishes much. The prayer gathering does more than enlarge the channel through which God will bless and give victory to His people; it actually moves us into an entirely different realm of power.

...

We move in  a realm in which results are calculated exponentially. We move from the realm of addition to that of  multiplication. …Corporate praying is the key to exponential power in prayer.  See Sue Curran “the Praying Church: Principles and Power of Corporate Praying”.

When every one is praying in “symphony” and is playing the same piece- a concert, according to the will of  God , He moves to answer, deliever and heal.

If you cannot attend this prayer gathering, join us where you are and let us know . Send your prayer focus  or requests to ldfaygo@aol.com or post them in the comment
