Love and Pray!

Happy Holidays with love.

May your Christmas and the Holidays be a Day and week  of Love that will lead into the New Year. Give the Gift that keeps on giving… LOVE! Give some and Receive some.Thank God that when the fullness of time came, Jesus came for YOU and me to make us sons and daughters. See Galatians 4:4

Hug on your loves ones and friends and let them know you care( even that relative who can be challenging some times). Time is precious so enjoy family and friends and get  rest. Also take time to write your specific  goals  with deadlines(SMART goals) for the New Year. In addition take some time for  reflection on what you have accomplished this year. Write down your top ten achievements this year. Write down the challenges that you have managed to overcome and handled well.
During this Holiday Season of joy , celebration and gathering with family and friends(and really all the year) remember those grieving from lost(divorce, death, rejection, failure) and suffering from illness and depression. Have compassion for the poor and lonely. This time of year is often depressing to many. Pray for them and then—- DO. Give a smile, a hug, an encouraging word, a touch, a donation, feed them, give a gift, visit them, and provide support and resources. We are God’s ambassadors (workmanship) created for good works. (Ephesians 2:10) Put hands and feet on your love and prayers.

Parents Need Back to School Prayer and Encouragement

The day after Labor Day around the country usually marks the first day of school for most of our children and youth. We send up prayers of protection and safety for our children. https://ladyofprayer.com/unite-cry-schools-linda-fegins/ I have encouraged you to join us in praying for our school age children , youth and college students this month.

This time also marks the season that parents have to get ready for the school season and be prepared for the first day of school as well.

I smile as you see pictures and cartoons of parents that are so glad school has started that they celebrate that the children will be out of the house.

Special love and prayers to my fellow single moms( or dads) especially with multiple kids. I know you are posting *back to school* pics and smiling on the outside but I know that inner anxiety and frustration that creeps up this time of year as you struggle to figure out how you’re going to get it all done when it’s just you.

As a parent of children heading to school and college, I am sure you are especially sensitive of this experience and you are looking for ways to ease the transition for you and your family. May God bless you today parents, guardians, or caretakers . Here is a prayer to fortify and empower you:

Dear Lord, our loving Father,

Lord I thank you for my/our children. They are a true blessing and rich treasure. Help me always to value them in the same way you value them.
Lord guide me and the Mothers and Fathers as they send their children to school or off to college for the very first time or back to school again. Give me peace and clarity. Let me/us be anxious for nothing but by prayer and supplication seek you. Lord I know that you are hiding my child under your protective wings and the Blood of Jesus. Let divine order go forth then Lord and give me/us peace in You.

Help me Lord to walk in love and divine order and not allow stress, school assignments and school activities to overwhelm me and to act unkind or rashly to my children.
Lord let me be a loving parent. May I be my children’s safe place. Teach me to manage my home well and to raise obedient and respectful children. Show me Lord how a parent should nurture and care for his/her children.

Lord I commit myself to the important responsibility of training my children in the way they should go. Bring them to full salvation through faith in Jesus.
Lord I pray for strength, grace, resources, WISDOM and peace of mind for myself and the Mothers, Moms , Mamas, and Dads and Fathers. I beseech you to me/us wisdom to be the most effective parent I /we can through the blood of Jesus to make daily decisions about the discipline and nurturing of my/our children. Help me/us each day to be conscious of the need to bring my/our children up in your nurture and admonition.

Fill me/us with the spirit of wisdom that I/we might discern your will, Father when it comes to making decisions that affect the future and well-being of my/our child. With you Lord I/we have strength and wisdom.
Father, I/we need your wisdom. Let my mouth speak wisdom, love and blessings to my children. Turn my heart to my children, and the hearts of my children to me, so that our home and the school year may be blessed. Amen.

Back to School Around the World

I watched a touching video which shared a picture of two children waking to prepare for school. The parents of each child woke them up. One ten year old lived in a modern home with amenities. The other child lived in a clean house with barely the basics. The parent of each child prepared them some breakfast. One child was driven to school 7 minutes away from her home. The other child, age 10, walked to school over a rocky road and hills. He traveled across man made planks to get across to the other side. It took him 2.5 hours to walk to school.  One child lived in the United States; the other in Guatemala. His desire to learn is evident. We need to pray for all children attending school or going back to school around the world. Let us teach our children not to  take school  for granted.

Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord.  Psalm 127:3 CEV.

Mothers and fathers around the world should come together to passionately pray before God for the lives of their children in more than 140 countries. Imagine the impact of God answering prayers for a generation of children throughout the world. Imagine if we all cried out for their safety and academics as I urged in the posts last week.

 

Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the night watches! Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord! Lift your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street. Lamentations 2:19 ESV

 

It is our privilege as parents pray for and bless our children. We can do this in many ways. Blessing them also implies showing affection and speaking blessing words over them. One of the best ways is to gather with other parents to pray for our kids. Further, answer the call to pray daily for a school in your neighborhood and to adopt a school as I challenged you in the posts in prior weeks https://ladyofprayer.com/unite-cry-schools-linda-fegins/

Parents and the community needs to unite in prayer in our neighborhoods and on the school grounds to serve as prayer warriors who battle in the spiritual realm for the lives of children and teenagers as they go off to school and colleges for at least a half hour to one hour every week. Let’s challenge ourselves to daily pray for the safety of our children and that God will deliver them from evil and thwart every scheme of the enemy.
Prayer: Lord in the name of Jesus we pray that you cover the children and youth through the blood and “stay the hand of violence against the children and staff of the school. Dismantle any plan to bring harm to them. Expose any weapon brought on the school premises and render it harmless”.( from Power-Packed Prayers for Public Schools by Ida Rose Heckard).

Prayer for Students’ Academics

Father, I pray for ____________________________________ who is facing the new school or college year and the challenges and difficulties of school responsibilities. Impart your wisdom to him/her so that he/she will understand that wisdom is the principal thing. Motivate him/her to seek wisdom and to gain understanding.

Grace and mercy come from you, Lord. As you did for Daniel and three Hebrew children, I ask that you give my children knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom that he/she they may be excellent in all his/her their school work and activities.

You are a very present help to____________________ __________________in all areas of his/her life. Help him/her to call upon you when the demands of scholastic life threaten to overwhelm him/her.
May________________ realize that you have a plan and purpose for his/her life. Gave him/her the motivation to pursue your goals for him/her. Protect him/her from all harmful influences.
Keep him//her mind stayed on you. When philosophies and theories of this world oppose his/her faith, help him/her to maintain a constant focus on you, to run his her course with patience, looking unto you. Lord Jesus, the author and finisher of his/her faith.

Bless __________ with clarity of mind as he/she studies. Help him/her to be diligent and to avoid the error of procrastination concerning assignments. Remind him/her to remain faithful even in the things he or she may consider unimportant.

Give him/her faith in your promise, as he/she faces tests and exams, that by your great Comforter, the Holy Spirit, you will bring all things to his/her remembrance.

Thank you for providing us with all we need to meet the challenges of life. You have equipped _____________with the necessary abilities to do well in school. Help _____to remember to be thankful to you for the abilities and aptitude you have given to him/her.

Bless him/her and use him/her to bring glory to your name. Thank you Lord. Amen

Our children our returning back to school all over the country. Our youth our headed back to college campuses and some are leaving home for the first time. Let’s pray for back to school prayer protection. Last week I mentioned that we need to cry out in united prayer for our children and schools saying “Lord bless our children and the schools they attend”, See Lam 2:19 . https://ladyofprayer.com/unite-cry-schools-linda-fegins  Through prayer, families, our children’s lives, and our world can be changed.

Along with daily prayer rallies and prayer meetings around the country, Moms in Prayer , International will hold its seventh annual Bless Our Schools Sunday, September 18,2016.https://momsinprayer.org/events/bless-our-schools-sunday Every year on the third Sunday in September, churches around the world pray for the schools, teachers, staff, and students in their congregation.

There is no doubt that “Moms In Prayer  International” (MIPI) founded by Fern Nichols, a group of mothers around the country   have been going before the throne of  God.  A diversified group of mothers of MIPI serve as prayer warriors who battle in the spiritual realm for the lives of children and teenagers as they go off to school for at least one hour every week. They are women united with one purpose: a passion to pray for their children. http://momsinprayer.org/ The mission of Moms in Prayer International is to impact children and schools worldwide for Christ by gathering mothers to pray.

Through prayer, our lives, our children’s lives, and our world can be changed.

Believe that intercessors can change your school district with the weapon of prayer. Believe that positive results will occur such as peace and safety, better test scores, higher graduation rates,   and more school funds to meet the needs of our children. Pray that student-led prayer groups will spring forth.  Let’s challenge ourselves to daily pray for the safety of our children and that God will deliver them from evil and thwart every scheme of the enemy.

I know that many intercessors already have prayer assignments from the Lord. But I would challenge  the intercessors, parents and teachers to ask Him if He might also want you to “adopt” a public school for your prayer agenda.

Action Plan :

Pray for the school your child attends as you drive your child to school . Pray for a school in your neighborhood and/or adopt a school to daily pray for throughout the school year. Encourage your children to pray for their school and teachers.

Here’s a prayer for the safety of your children.

A Prayer for Your Child’s Protection and Safety.

Heavenly Father, you are the sure defense of our children, you are the rock of refuge, their high tower, and their protector. How I praise you and thank you for the certain knowledge I have that you care for my child, you will be with him/her always and you will keep him/her from the evil one.

Lord, you saved Israel from the hands of the enemies time and time again. You delivered your people and helped them to dwell in safety. Be a very present help to my son/ daughter__________________(state their name )as he/she goes out to play, goes to school, attends college and faces the challenges and responsibilities in our society. Lord build a hedge of protection all around the school building, playground, bathrooms, classroom and hide them under the protection of your wings as in Psalm 91in the name of Jesus.

Keep our home safe from all fear and dispatch your angles to protect my children at school,on campus, on the playground, on the bus and walking home from school. Uphold my child, ______according to your Word, Lord, so that he/she might truly live, experiencing the abundant life you have promised to all who come to you. Let him/ her never be ashamed of you. Hold him/her up so that he/she will always be safe and will have respect to your statues continually. I pray that he will honor You and your Word. I thank you, Father for the promises of your Word, and that you are a shield unto them that put their trust in you. Deliver them from all who would harm them.

Indeed Prayer Works!

In a recent interview, Pricilla Shirer said, “Prayer is the most powerful weapon the church has to unlock the activity of heaven on earth.” Yes. prayer works!

Faith-filled prayers get results in due season. The Word of God states that  the “prayers of righteous persons are powerful and effective”. James 5:16.

Prayer moves the hands that move the universe. Prayer invites God to glorify Himself in our needs and weakness.  God can do great things in the nation, community and in your life. God can restore that which was broken or torn down. He redeems those who were lost and can turn situations and circumstances around.

The National Day Prayer that Pastor Andre Butler is discussing emphasizes prayer for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church and Family (I Timothy 2:1-6).

Let us continue to pray for our nation in prayer gatherings and in our homes. God throughout His Word tells us to pray that He may heal our land. 2 Chronicles 7:14.

The sovereign Lord listens to our cries, waits to intervene on our behalf and to deliver and transform the ills of our nation. (See e.g. Zephaniah 3:17).  Prayer is required and imperative for believers individually, and corporately, to pray continually throughout the year, not just on the National Day of Prayer.

The disciples asked Jesus “Lord teach us to pray”. Those few words are powerful. Each of us should want to learn to pray more effectively and not amiss to gain greater intimacy with the Lord and to pray His will for the Kingdom. We should seek to spiritually rise in our personal and corporate prayer life. Let’s learn from the Word how to pray. Let’s look at Jesus’ prayer life

Believe in prayer. It is the best way we have to draw strength from heaven.

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. Matthew 21:22 NIV ( from God’s Little Instruction Book)

What do you believe God for today?

Meditate on the Word. Pray. Listen. Believe. Pray. Believe. Hear. Do.

Wake Up America! Pray !

Wake Up America! Pray ! So much is going on in our nation –racism, attack on God’s Word and Way, personal and corporate financial distress, hatred, violence, leadership failures, ISIS, war , human trafficking and more.

The lyrics of the song “Wake Up Everybody” ,sung by now deceased Teddy Pendergrass which described the issues facing people in this world, is relevant.I really like the song. Part of the lyrics state:

Wake up everybody no more sleepin’ in bed
No more backward thinkin’ time for thinkin’ ahead
The world has changed so very much
From what it used to be
There is so much hatred war an’ poverty

The world won’t get no better if we just let it be
The world won’t get no better we gotta change it yeah, just you and me.

True, the world will not get any better unless we, you and me, pray and cry out to the Lord in fervent prayer, with a repentant heart, to heal the land. Once we soak in prayer, get our instructions from the Lord, then we must also “Do”— take action to make a difference.

Let’s join in corporate prayer on May 5th, 2016, which is National Day of Prayer throughout the day and pray from where ever you are—home, work, school etc.

This year’s 2016 theme: Wake Up America. Scripture: Isaiah 58:1a “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet” The national theme, Wake Up America, emphasizes the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of Fathers in reverence for His Holy Name.

For the May 5th observances, Dr. Tony Evans, is the 2016 Honorary Chairman. Millions of people will gather to pray at thousands of events around the nation. Gather your friends and family members together in prayer. We have an opportunity to see the Lord’s healing and renewing power made manifest as we call on YOU and all citizens to humbly come before His throne.

The apostle Paul urged that “requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone…that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (I Timothy 2:1-3). It is time for us to pray as a nation corporately and individually. In this turbulent time of open racism, rumors of wars and aggression, and troubled communities and cites we need to go before the Lord to seek through prayer, “peaceful and quiet lives” – for ourselves, our families, our neighbors and friends and our nation.

Continue to pray for our nation as the “prayers of righteous persons are powerful and effective”. James 5:16. The sovereign Lord listens to our cries, waits to intervene on our behalf and to deliver and transform the ills of our nation. (See e.g. Zephaniah 3:17). There is a need for faithful, preserving intercession for our leaders, government, families, education system, the legal system, churches, the armed forces and the media. Our prayers will impact generations to come if we continue to seek the Lord’s guidance and protection and be obedient to His Word.

For the May 5th observances, Dr. Tony Evans, the 2016 Honorary Chairman, wrote a special prayer to be simultaneously read throughout the nation at noon (ET). This recitation will create a huge wave of prayer, flowing from one coast to the other, illustrating the unity of God’s people and acknowledging His dominion over the circumstances facing us.

“At this crucial time for our nation, we can do nothing more important than pray”, states Dr. Evans. Make this spiritual discipline a personal priority and take a stand with myself and others as we encourage others to incorporate prayer in their lives.

National Prayer

Dear heavenly Father, we come to You today as a humble people desperate for Your supernatural intervention on behalf of our beloved nation. First, we thank You for all the blessings You have bestowed on our land, blessings that have allowed us to bring so much good and benefit to not only our own citizens but also to the rest of the world. The very ideals upon which this country was founded were based on biblical truths, no matter how some try to rewrite history to deny that very fact today.

This is why our hearts are so broken over how You continue to be marginalized and dismissed by both our people and our institutions. We are also saddened by the fact that Your people have contributed greatly to the spiritual apathy that now engulfs us. Our satisfaction in remaining religious without being fully committed to living out the truths of Your Word has caused us to become co-conspirators with the forces of evil that are destroying us as a society.

It is for this reason that we personally and collectively repent of our carnality and recommit ourselves to becoming visible and verbal disciples of Jesus Christ. Enable us, by Your Spirit, to no longer be secret agent Christians but rather to publicly declare and live out Your truth in a spirit of love so that You feel welcome in our country once again.

Thank You for Your promise to hear our prayers when we call to You with hearts of repentance and obedience, which is how we are appealing to You today, Father. On behalf of Your church, we affirm afresh the priority You are to us that You would fill every dimension of our lives as we seek to bring You glory through the advancement of Your kingdom in our personal lives, our family lives, and in the lives of our churches and our government leaders. We confidently invite heaven’s intervention into all the affairs of our nation and we praise You in advance for Your answer.

In Jesus’ name we pray.

Warriors Fight On Their Knees :Day 26/27 of 40 Day Prayer Journey

DAY 26 – March 6th – Warriors Fight on Their Knees

Scriptures: Psalm 69:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:17

 

Clara continues in prayer, “Raise up warriors who will fight on their knees.”

 

Sometimes the most difficult part of the fight is to stay on our knees. In our impatience or pride, we may think that we have diagnosed the problem and know just how to fix things. But the truth is that we don’t know what we don’t know. Only God knows every detail—the past, present, and even the future. Only God knows the intention of the heart and mind behind the decision and situation, who the victim is and where the fault really belongs.*

 

Staying on our knees keeps us from charging in and making the situation worse in our ignorance. Write down your prayer requests and ask God to give you insight and instructions. In situations where you feel anger, frustration, or other negative feelings, ask God to deal with your emotions and attitudes. Stay on your knees and ask the questions, “What does love require? Are my desires self-serving or God-serving?”*

 It is Day 26 of the 40 Day Prayer Journey. Keep pressing in  praying and studying God’s Word.

Write down how you would want to be treated if the tables were turned. Would you be willing to change the tire of the man who wanted you thrown in jail? God can only raise you up if you are willing to stay down on your knees in humble prayer (Psalm 69:13).*(Kathy Branzell)

 

Pray:

  • Repent of failing to show acts of kindness to those who mistreat or offend us or our love ones.
  • Repent of withholding mercy and love out of judgment and vengeance.
  • Pray that believers and you grow in grace, mercy and love to make an impact in the lives of others and in the world.
  • Pray that the fruit of the spirit will abound in you and in and through the church.
  • Pray for the physically disabled. Pray that they will be surrounded with loving friends and family; for physical stamina and healing; for financial burdens of therapy and special care, and that they will love and honor God.

 DAY 27 – March 7th – Help People

Scriptures: Psalm 31:1–5; Matthew 25:35-40

 

Michael tells Tony, “Yeah, I’m a paramedic. But I’m also a Christian, which means I help people while I am helping people.”

 

Pray about how you can live out being a Christian where ever your work, whatever the circumstances, however hard it may be to speak the truth with love. Write down some positions/ titles you hold and profess: “I’m a mom/dad, CEO, nurse, IT expert, executive, grandparent, educator, coach, etc., but most importantly, I’m a Christian, which means I ______________ while I am __________.*

 

Ask God to permeate every relationship and responsibility in your life. Write down and pray about specific situations where it is difficult to be a Christian. Ask God to give you courage, strength and steadfastness do His will, no matter what (Psalm 31:1–5).*(Kathy Branzell)

 

Pray:

  • Pray to grow in faith and to surrender to the Holy Spirit as a powerful demonstration of His love and power.
  • Pray to walk in God’s grace as members of the body of Christ and to demonstrate His love, mercy, grace, and power to the world.
  • Pray for homeless people. Pray for immediate relief, shelter, food and health care; that Christ will restore hope for the future. Pray for protection from the risks of life on the streets for the homeless and for employment, housing and restored family life.
  • Pray for your co-workers especially the difficult ones. Pray that God will give you divine appointments to witness to those who do not know the Lord.
  • Pray for your neighbors. Pray for God’s peace to be upon those who live on your street or in your housing complex. Ask God to give you an opportunity to witness to them about God’s love.

DAY 25 – March 5th – Married Junk And All

Scriptures: Hebrews. 4:12–16; Ephesians 5:25

Michael tells Tony, “Marriage is not some buffet where you get to pick and choose what you want; you married her junk and all.”*

 

Life, commitment, marriage, parenting, career, etc. are not a buffet where we get to pick what we enjoy and leave the rest behind. We are in a covenant with Christ; in marriage and in life as the Bride of Christ, for richer, poorer, better or worse, sickness and in health, rested, tired, happy, sad, and so forth. The blessing is that we do life together, guided and guarded by the hand and heart of God when we pray.*

 

The best thing you can do together as a couple, as a family, as friends, as neighbors, as co-workers, is pray together and pray for one another. Nothing leaves a blessing like hearing someone pray over you, nothing brings unity like two or more praying together, locking their prayer shields and taking ground away from the enemy.*

 

Examine your attitude about some of your relationships and responsibilities. Write down anything that you have ignored because you just “did not want to deal with it.” If you have had a “buffet mentality,” write down some of the areas you have been turning a blind eye or hard heart toward. Remember who the real enemy is—it is not your spouse, your children, your pastor, your boss, or any of the people you are praying for! Ask God to examine your heart and point out the areas you need to address in prayer and compassion. Be brave; ask Him to shine His light in the dark places that you would rather not deal with, but know that you can because of Him. Ignoring even one area of your life gives Satan a place to hide and harbor.*

 

Write down a Scripture or prayer for each of these areas as they come to mind. Give grace and mercy in these areas as God heals and restores (Hebrews. 4:12–16).*(Kathy Branzell)

 

Pray:

  • Pray that the church will be a living force of love in the earth today.
  • Pray that the disciples of Christ will be known by our love for one another and the loving-kindness of the Lord that leads to repentance.
  • Pray that members of the church and yourself show love through deeds that touch the lives of the unsaved, unchurched and unsure.
  • Repent from demonstrating the letter of the law rather than the Spirit of liberty and love.
  • Pray for marriages.

DAY 26 – March 6th – Warriors Fight on Their Knees

Scriptures: Psalm 69:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:17

 

Clara continues in prayer, “Raise up warriors who will fight on their knees.”

Sometimes the most difficult part of the fight is to stay on our knees. In our impatience or pride, we may think that we have diagnosed the problem and know just how to fix things. But the truth is that we don’t know what we don’t know. Only God knows every detail—the past, present, and even the future. Only God knows the intention of the heart and mind behind the decision and situation, who the victim is and where the fault really belongs.*

Staying on our knees keeps us from charging in and making the situation worse in our ignorance. Write down your prayer requests and ask God to give you insight and instructions. In situations where you feel anger, frustration, or other negative feelings, ask God to deal with your emotions and attitudes. Stay on your knees and ask the questions, “What does love require? Are my desires self-serving or God-serving?”*

 

Write down how you would want to be treated if the tables were turned. Would you be willing to change the tire of the man who wanted you thrown in jail? God can only raise you up if you are willing to stay down on your knees in humble prayer (Psalm 69:13).*(Kathy Branzell)

 

Pray:

  • Repent of failing to show acts of kindness to those who mistreat or offend us or our love ones.
  • Repent of withholding mercy and love out of judgment and vengeance.
  • Pray that believers and you grow in grace, mercy and love to make an impact in the lives of others and in the world.
  • Pray that the fruit of the spirit will abound in you and in and through the church.
  • Pray for the physically disabled. Pray that they will be surrounded with loving friends and family; for physical stamina and healing; for financial burdens of therapy and special care, and that they will love and honor God.

DAY 16 – February 25th – Personal and Family Mission Statement

Scriptures: Romans 12; 1 Samuel 3:10

 

The mission statement of the Kendrick Brothers Productions is that they are “a company of brothers; Alex, Stephen and Shannon Kendrick, that exists to honor Jesus Christ and make His truth and love known among the nations through movies, books, curriculum and speaking. By prayerfully blending engaging stories with scriptural integrity, the Kendrick’s seek to encourage and inspire viewers and readers with resources that impact their daily lives and strengthen their families and personal relationships.”

 

Think and pray about a personal and/or family mission statement that could be used to direct you in decisions and daily life. Over the next few days write down some ideas and formulate a mission statement as part of your personal and family prayer strategy (Rom. 12).*(Kathy Branzell)

 

How has your personal prayer journey been during this Lenten Season so far since we started on February 10, Ash Wednesday? I pray that you are indeed listening to the Lord, studying the Word and seeking God in prayer and fasting. Keep pressing toward the mark even if it may be a little challenging. Again keep pressing on the “War Room Journey: Praying, Listening to the Lord And Living the Life”.  1 Timothy 2:1-4; Philippians 4:6-7; Deuteronomy 30:20; Galatians 2:20, from February 10, 2016 through March 26, 2016.

The season of Lent should be a time of intense discipline and devotion. Obviously the word discipline is close to the word disciple. We are disciples or followers of Christ. We become like Christ through disciplines such as Bible Study, prayer, and ministry. Oh by the way, do you have your journal, Bible and a listening ear on this journey?

Pray:

  • Pray that parents will be diligent in disciplining their children and to train them to walk in obedience and demonstrate unconditional love for them.  
  • Pray for a desire for prayer to be stirred up within all family members and that answers to prayer will occur to build faith and consistency.
  • Pray that your family and/or friends will experience rich times of praying together, playing together and worshipping together.
  • Pray for youth and children.
  • Pray for salvation for family members and friends.

Vibrant Prayer Relationship

DAY 12 – February 21st – Vibrant Prayer Relationship .

Scripture: Isaiah 55; Proverbs 1:5

In a recent interview Stephen Kendrick said, “Prayer is so much more than people realize. It can powerfully affect every problem and need in our lives if engaged from within a vibrant prayer relationship with God.”

So how “vibrant” is your relationship with God? Write down some adjectives, characteristics, and evidences that describe your current relationship with Jesus. Describe your daily interaction and affection toward Him. How many times do you think about Him during the day? How often do you talk with Him, thank Him, or give Him credit for something good or beautiful? Is prayer your first response or your last resort?

One of the biggest mistakes made in prayer is that we make it about us. We think that we only need to talk to God when we need something. But that is not how any successful relationship communicates. If your write your spouse a love note, or a friend a thank-you note, you do not fill it with ways they can make your life better and easier. You thank them for all they have done and the meaning that they have already brought to your life.

Love expresses and affirms affection without attaching a required expectation at the end of the sentence. We do not say, “You bring so much joy to my life, so give me $50.” Practice praying throughout your day; a sentence here, a thought there that just tells God how much you love and appreciate Him. Practice making your requests in the mindset of His will, so He receives glory and His Kingdom is impacted.

A happy marriage glorifies God, so does an addict who recovers, a prodigal who repents and comes home, a bill that gets paid, a church that is filled with people who have a heart for prayer, worship and service, etc. Abiding in Him teaches us to value what He values, not the other way around. Write down ways to praise and thank Him as you see Him move in your requests, and in your relationship (Isa. 55).*

Pray:

• Ask God to search your heart and life and to reveal to you any sin you may need to deal with.
• Pray a prayer of praise and thanksgiving.
• Ask God for spiritual blessings, for ministry opportunities and empowerment for service.
• Pray that the gospel may reach the unsaved, unchurched and those hurt by church “folk” such that they may be saved and their hearts and minds are renewed.
• Ethnic Communities: Psalm 22:27 – that God would bring racial harmony; that long standing offenses may be healed by the forgiveness which begins in Jesus; that Christians show honor and act in Christ’s reconciling power; that many churches would demonstrate the redemptive purpose of God in the beauty of the distinctive languages and cultures.
• Pray for President Obama and his family.
