Celebrate Fathers! Share Your Story.

Scripture: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and spite the earth with a curse. Malachi 4:6

Father’s Day does not get the same overwhelming celebration as Mother’s Day. Fathers have an important role in the family and in the lives of their children. There are many quiet good black fathers  and we  need to celebrate them . This month as we celebrate Father’s Day let’s honor and pray for fathers, who may not be perfect, but who love their children, train their children, protect their children and have good relationships with their children. The week prior to Father’s Day I challenge you to share positive comments and reflections about your father, father figures, grandfathers, mentors and committed men. Please share your story and comments.

.

A couple of years ago on Radio station 1200 AM in the city of Detroit, John Mason, of Mason in the Afternoon, was asking for positive reflections and comments about one’s father, grandfather or a father figure. One reflection, by a man who called into the radio station to comment, touched my heart. He stated that his father taught him many things by his actions. ” I learned how to be a father and the protector of my family from my father”, he proudly said.  He went on to  explain that “When I was about 7 years old I went “trick or treating” on Halloween with some friends”, said the caller. “ A bigger boy stole our bags. All I could remember was seeing a flash go by and jump the fence. Next thing I knew I had my Halloween bag back. It was my father who jumped that fence. He had been watching and covering me all the time”.

That story brought tears to my eyes because the actions of the father symbolized the love the heavenly Father has for us in that he watches over us and protects us. For the now grown caller it taught him how to watch over his family. Another gentleman called in and stated he “learned how to respect women because of how he saw his father respect and treat his mother”.

The admiration Kim Bracey has for her father shines through every time she speaks of him. Kim Bracey will tell you she thought her father was “God” for the longest because he provided for her and was there every time she needed him. Rene Wallace shared that her over 70 year old father , who has now passed, still talked as if this middle aged daughter was his responsibility. Jeanette Johnson’s father has been dead for over 12 years but she talks about her father frequently with love and respect. Her honor and respect for his wisdom radiates from her heart for this man who only had a third grade education, but was full of wisdom , strength, and integrity who provided for his children and adored his wife and owned land and property and feed neighbors who were poor. When she speaks of him you can hear and feel the respect and honor she has for him. It was touching to hear their comments.

Please share your positive experience with your father and what your relationship means to you.

Remember Fallen Soldiers

On Memorial Day we  remember the brave men and women who gave their lives for us so that citizens of the United States of America can have access to freedom.

Celebrate the lives of the courageous individuals who sacrificed their lives for citizens of the United States. Remember the fallen men and women soldiers and pray for their families.
Remember and pray for our missing in action soldiers.
Remember prisoners of war. Pray for their deliverance and their families.
Remember our wounded soldiers. Pray for their physical, mental and emotional healing and to receive the proper benefits in a timely manner.

Pray for families as they travel and gather together to celebrate-Pray for traveling mercies, safety, joy and love.

Remember soldiers who may not have received the honor due to them. The picture reflects Lena Horne with a group of Tuskegee Airmen on January 1, 1945. There are countless photos of Ms. Horne visiting Tuskegee Airmen and other military personnel to show her support for their service. She also showed her support for them by refusing to perform for segregated military audiences during World War II.

Praise Is What I Do, Now! by Song of Joy

Praise Is What I Do, Now!

September 5, 2001, I was reading a Detroit Free Press Magazine and I saw an article that said,” A Moving Experience – Moved By The Spirit.”

September 18, my friend, Daisy and I attended our first Higher Praise Worship Ministries dance class of 12 weeks under the leadership of Susan Hawthorne-Parks.

My purpose in enrolling in the praise dance class was to help me overcome the fear of speaking, moving and being free with my worship to the true and living God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit. I knew my praise to God was to be something that I present to God to acknowledge my deep passion and appreciation of who He is and all that He has done.

But I needed to overcome the fear expressing myself in public and what people might be thinking about me expressing myself. I was brought up at Messiah Baptist Church where basically the congregation witness to the truth  at times by saying “Amen”, a few shouts, clapping of the hands and patting of the feet to the music.

However, there wasn’t a praise language begin expressed. That “outer praise” was not there. You notice I said “outer praise”, because no one knows what goes on inside of a person. My Mom, back in her younger days was not one who did a lot of rejoicing or praising. She would clap her hands, shed some tears and nodded her head, but that was about it. But now, Mom can be teaching Sunday School or walking around the house and be talking about God and let out a “Shout of Joy – Hallelujah”.

Since I wasn’t around “praisers” and I wasn’t really taught much about how to praise the Lord. I never matured in that spiritual area. I really didn’t have true praise in my heart, mind, soul, body or on my lips because I was just plain old afraid.  I even used the excuses, “God can hear me. He knows my heart”. “Everybody don’t show praise the same way. It’s not for you anyway.” My favorite one was, “It don’t take all of that.” I didn’t even have the courage to open my mouth boldly in church or at home and say, “Lord I really Love You, I Adore You, I Honor You, I Magnify You. You’re an Awesome God and there is none like You. Hallelujah!” Not to mention, I wouldn’t dare stand up by myself and clap my hands in a service. No Way!

“Song of Joy ” aka Carol Turnbough

But Thanks Be To God! 16 years later the praise seeds that were planted during those 12 weeks  gave me a breakthrough in not being afraid to only praise and worship . The class taught me how to submit in praise and worship. My praise life has increased 1,000 times more and, “ Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for” this Praiser, Carol, Song of Joy!

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for not giving me the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, thank You for The Spirit that has lifted up a standard against him. Glory to Your name for a lifestyle of praise and thanksgiving. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 40 of 40 Day Prayer Journey :Worship the Lord to Life Transformation

DAY 40– April 9  Seeking to Rise Spiritually  by Worshiping God Together                                  40 Day Prayer Journey to Life Transformation

This is the last day of the 40 Day Prayer Journey to Life Transformation. Let us worship the Lord with our whole heart. As these 40 days of repentance, fasting and prayer draw to an end, we must make a commitment and set  our minds to press onward to consistently seek the Lord in prayer and worship and to intercede for your city, family , nation and others. Jesus has been with us on this journey through ups and downs, struggles to stay on course, to stretch out of our comfort zone and to grow in the Lord.  Let us give Him the praise He deserves. We must hold fast to the transformation in our lives we have experienced. May we rally together to transform our city with the presence of Christ.

The number 40 is a significant number. In the Bible 40 is a specific time period associated with a period of testing, trial, probation or chastisement. “The number 40 is a indication that God is ready to birth something new out of pain or challenge”. Kingdom Principles for Everyday Living by Stewart Perrilliat. It rained 40 days and nights , Moses was on the mountain with God for 40 days and nights,  and the Israelite wandered for 40 years before entering the Promised Land. Jesus fasted in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness. Believe with great expectation that this 40 Day Prayer Journey will develop a more intimate relationship with the Lord, a casting off of “old garments” and a renewed mind and heart which will result in transformation in your life.

Scriptures:  1 Chronicles 16:7-36; Psalms 95, 96; John 4:21-26

Repent:  Of failure to humbly worship the Lord for who He is –Kings of Kings, Holy, Loving, Lord; of not gathering with other believers to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth; of not giving our all to the Lord as an act of worship; of not worshipping Him with your whole heart  but only in form; of not magnifying and lifting high the name and person of Jesus Christ; of not participating in praise and worship of the Lord-personally and corporately; of not giving the Lord the honor that is due His name; of_____________________.

Pray:

  • Pray for the church to have a Christ-centered worship experience in spirit and truth that will please the Father.
  • For and receive a heart revived to passionately and completely worship the Lord, simply because He is worthy of our praise, worship and adoration.
  • Pray for sincere and honest exaltation of the name of the Lord, born of the Holy Spirit and the Word.
  • Pray for humility and unity among believers that will give rise to worshiping the Lord in the beauty of His holiness throughout the church.
  • Pray that the people of God will see themselves how God sees them.
  • Pray that you will be able to share an encouraging word today with someone.
  • Pray for people to be saved this day.
  • Pray for believers to be filled with expectant love for Christ and that He would manifest Himself in such a way that rocks the church and the nations.
  • Pray that you and members of the church will worship the Lord in spirit and in truth.
  • Praise God – that He reigns now and forever. Amen!
  • REJOICE!!!——–This is the last day of the 40 Day Prayer Journey. Rejoice that God, the Exalted One, gives us the privilege of celebrating and honoring His rightful place as the Almighty Lord and King of Kings. Praise God that His name is above every name and that at His name every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Hallelujah! Jesus is alive and is our soon coming King.

Thank you for joining Day 33 to 36 of the 40 Day Prayer Journey “Growing by the Power Within to Please God: Repenting for a Renewed Relationship With God”. Philippians 2:13. Let’ s grow in Prayer Journey Power.

We are nearing the end of this prayer journey; 6 more days to go .I hope you have been blessed and have sincerely begin to grow in prayer and your relationship with the Lord. As you walked this forty (40) day prayer journey and adventure of repenting and praying toward the desires and promises of God to enable us to grow by the power within to please God, share your experiences. Let each of us grow in grace, in service and deed, in love for God and each other and into a lifestyle of individual and corporate prayer.

Day 2 and 3 of the 40 Day Prayer of Lent

As mentioned yesterday on Day 1 of Lent, pursuing God during the Lenten Season in a 40 Day Prayer Journey by Grace for Life Transformation involves fasting and praying and a word we don’t like “repentance. It is His design for healing and restoration, so we cannot view it as optional during this journey.  See Day 1 Repentance and the Lenten Season to see what repentance means. https://ladyofprayer.com/repentance-os/  . I shared that repentance means to change your mind and to be determined not to do the sin again. It means to turn and walk the other way from sinful acts and thoughts. Even if it’s uncomfortable, even painful, if we are honest, continue to take the time to reflect and examine our lives and see how we measure up to His standard of repentance. You may even need to just meditate on and review the scriptures from yesterday posted in the above article.

“Now turn to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping and with mourning. So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm…”Joel 2:12-14 NKJV

Did you write your prayer of repentance yesterday? Did you take time to be honest before the Lord about your life, your relationship with God through Jesus Christ and your prayer life? Did you confess your sin and ask him to forgive you?

Ask Him to teach you to pray. Ask God to give you strength and discipline to increase your prayer life, to deepen your relationship and friendship with God to enable you to rise in the spiritual things of God. Sit still before the Lord and listen. Let the Lord know you are listening and you are sincerely seeking His face. Psalm 42: 1-2.

Meditate on these scriptures for Day 2 and Day 3 of  the 40 Day Prayer Journey until Resurrection Sunday.

DAY 2- February 11th – Repenting For A Renewed Relationship With God
Scriptures: Job 42:1-6; Isaiah 58:1-6 2 Chronicles 7:12-16; Hebrews 11:6

Repent: Of __________________________________________.
Meditate, pray, and write down areas for which you should repent.

Reflect: On repentance, what you want to release in your life and on what steps you need to take to improve your prayer life and to deepen your relationship with God.

Pray:
• Pray that the message of repentance will penetrate your heart and the members of your church, your community and the world.
• Pray that leaders will walk in true humility and a deep reverence for the Lord.
• Pray for MEN – Pray that men will seek God and honor Him with an integrity that unites their lives in faithfulness, wisdom, and truth; that their vision of masculinity would be a Christ-like servant leadership in the family, church and world.
• Pray for God to strengthen your prayer life and deepen your relationship with Him.
• Pray for the President of the United States, President Obama and his family.
Pray what the Holy Spirit leads you to pray.

DAY 3 – March 3 – Seeking the Lord with a Clean Heart
Scriptures: Deut. 4:39-40; 2 Chron. 7:12-16 ;Heb. 11:6 ;Psalm 66: 18-19 ;Mark 11: 25-26

Repent: Of not consistently seeking after the Lord to know Him, His ways, and His will. Repent of seeking after the ways and approval of man.
Repent: Of failing to forgive another and holding malice in your heart. Or repent if you know that you have offended or hurt someone.

Reflect: Is there any area in your life about which you need to release bitterness, or have refused to forgive someone or sinful areas which you need to release.
Receive: Forgiveness and ask for a sincere and diligent heart to know the Lord, to see His face and to walk like Jesus.
Pray:
• Ask God to search your heart and to reveal to you any sin for which you need to seek forgiveness.
• For a deeper prayer relationship with Christ through prayer.
• Pray for your enemies and ask God to release you from any unforgiveness.
• Confess any sin that the Spirit brings to your attention.
• Forgive and pray for those who have offended you and hurt you
• Thank God for His mercy and grace through repentance.
• Ask God to give you a fresh understanding of His character and His holiness.
• Intercede for family members, friends and neighbors that they may began to seek to know God and have a desire to walk and talk with Him.
• Pray for the community and your city to turn from wicked ways and to seek the Lord.
• Pray for those who are unemployed and those burdened by debt.

Don’t Complain: Praise and Pray.

Don’t Complain: Praise and Pray.
Scriptures: 2 Timothy 2:22–26; 2 Chronicles 20:15

Miss Clara (in the movie War Room )points out to Elizabeth that Satan is the enemy, not her husband—and that all of her complaining brings curses and not blessing or healing to her marriage. Complaining is the praise music of hell. Satan loves to hear us gripe and grumble.

On the other hand, Satan hates to hear us pray. He can deceive, distract, and discourage us all he wants until we turn to God to fight for us—and then Satan is defeated! God has no tolerance for complaining; it does not express faith.

If you want to fight the good fight, it is time to turn our eyes on Jesus and profess our faith in Him. Praise expresses the awe-inducing, unchanging, mighty attributes of God. As we profess that He is Almighty, we perceive that our problems are not big and bad after all.

Write down some attributes of God from Scripture and pray them to remind yourself and the enemy that God is stronger and sovereign. Write down blessings to pray over the people connected to your prayer strategy. Remember, asking God to reveal anything they are doing in deceit is a blessing as long as you pray repentance and redemption over them as well (2 Timothy 2:22–26).*(Kathy Branzell)

Bible study and prayer are essential to the life of every Christian. Intentionally read and study the scriptures and listen to God’s words. Fill your mind and soul with His stories and His truths. Spend more time in prayer. Learn to pray on your knees or prostrate on the floor. Confess your sins. Ask God to reveal to you areas of your life that need His transformation. Commit to deeper Bible study and times of prayer.

This is a time to repent, recall, refresh and renew our commitment to communing with Christ, talking to him but also listening to hear what He has to say to each of us individually and corporately.

Praying Through Difficult Choices by Carl Mathis

Praying Through Difficult Choices

Making decisions can be difficult. Often there is a lot at risk. Our choices have the power to change our lives for the better-or for the worse. Making a choice certainly means taking a risk. We may fear not succeeding, undergoing displeasure from family or friends, or being eventually frustrated by our choice.

Many people have never been shown how to make prayerful decisions, especially decisions about their career or vocation. When we are unsure what criteria to use in selecting a career, we may look primarily at material factors like compensation, or ultimately make choices based on our instinct or feelings about the possibilities. We may know that there are other factors we should consider, but are unsure what they are.

To further confuse the situation, we may also wonder, “Isn’t finding my purpose a mysterious spiritual process instead of a logical process? Could it really be a calling if it is something I have decided to do instead something to which God has directed?” These kinds of questions stem in part from our struggle in knowing how to strike a balance between our humaneness and the divine.

Considering the frustrations of making choices, it is understandable why some people avoid it. Instead of making choices, they tend to let their path through life be molded by outside circumstances and choices others make for them. They may use phrases like “I didn’t choose this career, it kind of happened” or “I just found myself in this situation, but it’s not what I really wanted to do” which convey a sense of just letting life happen instead of purposely choosing a route.

Many Christians struggle with knowing what to do when they are faced with important decisions about their life. Is it up to God to guide or up to us to decide? The key to resolving this dilemma is through prayer, realizing that it is both: God promises to guide and you are called to choose.

3 Steps to Praying Through Difficult Choices

  1. When faced with difficult choices get still and use paper and pen. Listen for God’s still small voice inside of you and write down whatever prompts, thoughts or feelings that you may have.
  2. Outside influences can cause people to lose focus and not have clarity which makes hearing from God a lot more difficult. Take time out periodically to walk in nature and talk with God making sure to balance the time talking and listening.
  3. Realize how powerful it is being connected to God who hears and sees all things.  Doing so helps ease the burden of having to make difficult choices alone. Praying for wisdom is one of the most powerful prayers.

Victorious and Blessed New Year 2107

yellow-n-y-10891993_10202348849322928_2962174530465215386_nVictorious and Blessed New Year 2017!

Greetings to you and your family,

Welcome to Victorious 2017. Step into God’s Complete Victory in 2017. The number 17 symbolizes “overcoming the enemy” and “complete victory.” Expect victory (1 Corinthians 15:57) because God causes us to triumph . (Corinthians 2:14).  Expect greater , new opportunities and new beginnings, new associations, etc. “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57)

MORE than anything else in life we need to be able to walk in complete victory — in every situation. The full and complete victory was purchased for us at Calvary when Jesus took upon Himself our sins and failures. It is not enough to be set free from sin alone – our old sinful nature has to be replaced with Christ’s Victorious nature. “Christ in you, the hope of glory .#victoryin2107

In 2017 walk in faith(2 Corinthians 5:7)favor( Psalm 90:7) and thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57 ) Pray and God will answer  as he encourages you to call upon me and I will show you great and mighty things. ( Jeremiah 33:3)

Sit down and reflect. Write 3 goals you want to complete by the end of the year, 3 goals that should be done in  to 6 months and what you want to occur in your life this month. Your goals can address your health, career, family, personal and financial concerns. The Lord said to write the vision.  Make the goals specific, with a time limit and make sure they are measurable, realistic  and achievable. (SMART)

As you go forward in 2017-Release baggage of the past. Lay aside every weight, sin and burden.Forget the past and PRESS and move forward to YOUR GREATER- to the mark of the high calling of Jesus Christ.( Hebrews 12:1-3. Philippians 3:13). Keep Praying and Pressing. Pursue your dreams and do not fear shining with the spirit of excellence.
THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off {and} throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to {and} entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance {and} steady {and} active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1-3 AMP
I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
14 I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward Philippians 3:13-14 # #letgobaggage #releasebaggage

As a follower of the Lord, you don’t have to go through life downtrodden and defeated. Come see what it means to be on the winning side!

1 Corinthians 15:57  But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Boldly proclaim “victory in Jesus!”yellow-n-y-10891993_10202348849322928_2962174530465215386_n
