Honoring and Praying for Fathers by Linda Fegins

Honoring and Praying for Fathers by Linda Fegins

On Radio station 1200 AM, John Mason, of Mason in the Afternoon, was asking for positive reflections and comments about one’s father, grandfather or a father figure. One reflection, by a man who called into the radio station to comment, touched my heart. He stated that his father taught him many things by his actions. He said he learned how to be a father and the protector of his family from his father. “When I was about 7 years old I went “trick or treating” on Halloween with some friends”, said the caller. “ A bigger boy stole our bags. All I could remember was seeing a flash go by and jump the fence. Next thing I knew I had my Halloween bag back. It was my father who jumped that fence. He had been watching and covering me all the time”. That story brought tears to my eyes because the actions of the father symbolized the love the heavenly Father has for us in that he watches over us and protects us. For the now grown caller it taught him how to watch over his family. Another gentleman called in and stated he “learned how to respect women because of how he saw his father respect and treat his mother”.

The week prior to Father’s Day I challenged men and women to share positive comments and reflections about their father. Kimberly Bracey Superintendent of Sunday School, Minetta Hare, entrepreneur and missionary, and Renee Wallace ,known as the Chief Doer and strategist, shared some warm and loving comments about their fathers. Terrence Wilson, author of In Search of a Father wrote More Than A Provider and Bobby Ray Ivory, Jr., success coach and speaker, shared Five Things A Father Should Teach His Children. Author and wife coach, Venus Mason Theus shared how God healed a breached relationship with her father which has resulted in a wonderful daughter father relationship.

Please leave your positive comment and reflections about your father, grandfather, stepdad or father figure.

Prayer for Fathers

Lord in the name of Jesus, we thank you for fathers who love, train, provide for and protect their children. We pray that fathers will look to God as their ultimate spiritual father of their household, serving and caring for their children and families; we pray that absentee fathers would change their mindset and lifestyles to nurture a relationship with their children. We pray that the Lord will turn the hearts of the father toward their children and the hearts of the children toward their fathers. Malachi 4:6. We pray that children will see the godly character of the heavenly Father in the lives of their dads.
Lord we thank you that you are a Father to the fatherless and One who will never leave nor forsake us. Lord raise up fathers in the church and community to love, nurture, instruct and guide those in need of a father’s blessing. Lord turn the hearts of the fathers toward their children and the children toward their fathers. We pray for single fathers who are raising their children without a spouse to share the love and responsibility for their upbringing. Lord we pray about the disintegration of the family unit in our land, and ask God to restore the foundations both in and out of the church. Psalm 68:5-6; Proverbs 17:6 In the name of Jesus Amen.

Breached Father and Child Relationship? by Venus Mason Theus

June is the month we celebrate Father’s Day. We honor and pray for fathers, who may not be perfect, but who love their children, train their children, protect their children and have good relationships with their children. We thank God for earthly fathers who are loving, kind, protective, and wise.

I challenged men and women to make good comments and reflections about their fathers. Venus Mason Theus, author and marriage coach, shared how God healed and reconciled a breached relationship with her father and turned their relationship into a loving father daughter relationship.

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children , and the heart of the children to their fathers…Malachi 4:6

My relationship with my dad didn’t even begin until I was in my 30s. Our story could easily be a novel or a made-for-TV-movie. Adults sometimes make bad choices which cause children to suffer the consequences. But God is forgiving and longsuffering. It pleases Him to repair broken hearts and reconcile breached relationships. He demonstrated His Fatherly love toward us by sending His dear Son Jesus to reconcile us to Himself through His precious blood shed on Calvary. I love the Lord dearly and I’m glad He is in my life. Thank God for healing and redemption. I also love and thank God for my biological father. I’m so grateful that our reconciliation came while the blood still runs warm in our veins. I would hate to be standing over my father’s grave with a painful heart full of guilt and regret.

Perhaps this note comes to someone’s attention that has a strained relationship with their own father or a father with his children. Now is the time to get it right, tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us – once we’re gone, there are no do-overs. Holding grudges and making uninformed judgments are a waste of time, emotions and mental energy. If you feel your father or your child did you wrong, work on forgiving them and if possible even reconciliation. Seek God to help you move past the negative and allow yourself to cultivate your relationship.

My mom and dad were not married when I was conceived. According to Mom, they had planned to get married but a family member was so against her that they influenced my father to call the wedding off. Mom, being the strong, independent woman, she was set aside her emotional pain and focused on raising a healthy child. The late 50s was not an era that embraced out-of-wedlock parenthood. In fact when I was born, mom says some hospital personnel tried to convince her to put me up for adoption but she wouldn’t hear of it. To this day my dad’s account of their relationship is very sketchy. What I do know is that their relationship ended before I was born and they never reconciled. My maternal grandparents helped raise me. My granddad was my father figure well into my adulthood.

Although my paternal grandparents lived only about 4 blocks away from my childhood home, I rarely saw my dad in person. He had moved on with his life (as did my mother). He got married when I was 3 years old and visited me occasionally. I grew up hearing about my dad’s many successive educational and career accomplishments from my paternal grandmother. My dad was her “golden child.” I’d see photos on my grandparents’ wall of my half-brothers and sister, my dad and his wife – and yes, as aloof as they were toward me, my photos were among the others. The interesting thing is that I never missed having my dad around. My mom and maternal grandparents, even a stepfather for a brief time, made me feel loved and wanted. Whenever I visited my paternal grandparents, my granddad was friendly, but my grandmother only seemed to “tolerate” me. I never, ever felt welcome in their home.

Fast forward to the 1990s. I was in my mid-thirties when a friend of my mom’s brought a newsletter from the corporation both she and my dad worked for. By then my dad had reached the pinnacle of his career, making local history by being the first African American to hold the prestigious management position. His was the lead story of the company’s newsletter. The article told of his academic accomplishments, chronicled his climb to top of the corporation’s ladder, community service – and his family. Reading the part about his family, specifically his children, was a catalyst for me to reach out to him. The story said that Mr. Mason had three children. Therefore, that number excluded me. At that point I was no longer willing to be invisible. After speaking with my husband about it I made a decision to contact my dad. I called my grandfather and asked him to let my father know that I wanted to talk to him. Within just a couple of days I got a phone call. My dad and I met for lunch and began a series of awkward face-to-face conversations. I expressed my desire to get to know my half-siblings as well; growing up as an only child, I was excited about what I expected to be my new family. Dad said that would “take time.”

During the next year or so, my husband and daughters also began to bond with dad. Things remained somewhat awkward but everyone was trying. Oddly enough, the real breakthrough came when my paternal grandmother became gravely ill and was in intensive care. One day I stopped by my grandparents’ house to check on my grandfather. Just as I arrived he and my dad were getting into the car to visit my grandmother in the hospital. They invited me to join them and I did. My grandmother was unable to speak or sit up. She was hooked up to all sorts of apparatus but she could make gestures. The look on her face was “interesting.” My grandfather pointed to me and asked if she knew who I was. She nodded slightly in the affirmative. I can’t help but think that somehow when she saw me standing next to my dad, she felt her life had come full circle because it wasn’t long afterward that she passed away.

The pre-funeral gathering at my grandparents’ house was filled with what had to be some of North Carolina’s most bourgeois black citizens. I heard whispers from the North Carolina Masons “that must be Tony’s daughter.” “She looks just like Hazel.” etc. My husband and I were amused by my sudden celebrity knowing that my grandmother had probably never spoken a word to them about me. The scene stealer was when my dad took me over to the little makeshift receiving line that one of my brothers and my only sister had formed. I guess there’s really never a good time or place to spring an unknown sibling on an adult offspring, but this is when my dad introduced me to them. Being the first born, I’d known about them all my life, but apparently they never knew I existed. My sister refused to shake my hand. My brother gave a stellar performance by acting as if he’d been introduced to one of dad’s business associates.

At my grandmother’s gravesite there had been a slight mix-up with the burial plan my dad and grandfather had arranged so we had to wait until the cemetery personnel corrected the issue. The mourners (and the gawkers) had no choice but to stand around for about 30 minutes. Dad saw that as an opportunity to introduce me to my youngest brother. Can you say AWKWARD?

Over the years Dad and I have grown as close as I think any father/daughter could be. Our starting point was in the 90s. I know that God never makes a mistake. Only He knows what life would have been like for all of us had my dad been in my life then. Now we love and trust each other. I don’t really know what he was like when I was a child. I only know that he is a devoted husband to his wife of 51 years, his faith in God is strong and the Tony Mason I know is a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

If I’d held onto grudges and continued to act upon the information I “thought” I knew about him, my entire family would have missed out on some very special times and memories we were able to make from the point where we bonded. He’s been there for my daughters’ special events, and has been an integral part of their lives. Since he wasn’t around to walk me down the aisle when I got married, he escorted me to the Mother-of-the Bride’s seat at my firstborn’s wedding. I look forward to spending many more quality years with my daddy.

Honoring Our Soldiers on Memorial Day

As we begin this Memorial Day weekend, I want to take a moment to thank the brave men and women who have served in our nation’s armed forces and who are serving today. My father, Charlie Fegins, served at Pearl Harbor during World War II and was on the USS New Orleans when the attack occurred. He survived and came home. He was awarded a World War II Victory Medal. I want to thank those who have sacrificed their lives in service to their country and never came back home alive.

During Sunday I watched 60 minutes as the show reflected on the heroism of our soldiers. It also exposed the many issues of mental, emotional and physical issues our veterans face ;as well as homelessness. My heart was touched as well as broken. Dr. Rita Nakashima Brock, Ph. D writes about how many veterans have come home “morally injured” and struggle to overcome homelessness, mental issues and other stuggles ,which this nation must more effectively address. I prayed at home alone for our soldiers while watching 60 minutes.

My heart was blessed by the courage of the brave then 21 year old Dakota Meyer. He works in construction now, but on September 8, 2009, he was a corporal in the US Marines. That day he saved 36 guys under heavy Taliban fire. His story is amazing. How he did this great feat , against all odds and against orders not to attempt a rescue because it was too dangerous is unbelievable . He went against orders to save the lives of his brother soldiers. How he performed heroically, what he did, and under the circumstances and LIVE- first alive US Marine to receive the Medal of Honor during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars honored by President Obama, is extraordinary. You must hit the link for his name and read it for yourself. God was with him and 10 warring angels.

Again I thank the men and women soldiers for their service and their sacrifice. Like Senator Carl Levin stated “it’s absolutely essential that we honor our commitment to provide them with the very best care and support available. They’ve fought for us, and we need to keep fighting for them.” Senator Levin further stated “Around the world our troops are carrying out a broad array of challenging and dangerous missions. Wherever they are stationed, our troops and their families deserve our gratitude for their selfless service and their sacrifices”.

As you enjoy this holiday with friends and family take time to give thanks to God for our veterans who have served our country and for those on active duty who serve today. To our men and women in harm’s way, our prayers are with you. Take the time to pray for the veterans and their families who suffer physical and mental aliments and those who may be homeless. Pray for the protection of our soldiers serving around the world and at home in the United States. Pray as follows:

• Pray for those who have lost a loved one in battle. These grieving families have paid the ultimate price. Ask that God’s comfort would be upon them in a special way .
• Pray for our wounded service members and their families. Pray for mental and emotional healing as well as physical healing. Pray they obtain the necessary medical and other services they need and deserve.
• Pray for divine protection and guidance for our armed forces. Ask God to intercede for military chaplains and loved ones at home.
• Pray for the courageous troops, and their families, who are actively serving our country each day , not only at bases around the world, but also here within our borders. Our soldiers daily place themselves in harm’s way in order to defend the way of life we hold dear as well.
• Pray the Lord’s protection will go before them.
• Lift up the chaplains stationed around the world, along with the Christian servicemen who unofficially fulfill a role of spiritual leadership.
• Pray for discernment and protection from the United States’ enemies that are among us, even as others plot against us from afar.

Praying for Our Nation Under God : National Day of Prayer by Linda Fegins

Today, May 3, 2012, is the 61st annual National Day of Prayer(NDP). Millions will unite in prayer at thousands of events from coast to coast. This year’s theme, One Nation Under God, is based on Psalm 33:12: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Let us pray:

“Father in Heaven,
We lift our eyes toward Your Throne, where You reign in righteousness, Your Word assures us that when Your people cry out in sincerity and humility, You will never turn a deaf ear to us. We call upon you now, seeking Your forgiveness and favor….Drop knees to the floor and raise eyes in the sky for we know where our help comes from.” Part of “Prayer for the Nation” written by Beth Moore in 2009.

The NDP emphasizes prayer for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church and Family (I Timothy 2:1-6). Pray for each of the areas .For guidance in how to pray for these areas see https://ladyofprayer.com/?p=393

President Obama
has recognized the importance the role prayer has played in shaping the nation and its leaders. In discussing the National Day of Prayer last year in 2011, President Obama proclaimed:
“Let us be thankful for the liberty that allows people of all faiths to worship or not worship according to the dictates of their conscience, and let us be thankful for the many other freedoms and blessings that we often take for granted.
“I invite all citizens of our Nation, as their own faith or conscience directs them, to join me in giving thanks for the many blessings we enjoy, and I ask all people of faith to join me in asking God for guidance, mercy and protection for our Nation.”
Let us continue to pray for our nation in prayer gatherings and in our homes. God throughout His Word tells us to pray that He may heal our land. 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Legal and political attacks have been raised seeking the demise of this nation recognizing a National Day of Prayer. Last year was a significant milestone as on April 14, 2011 the 7th U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected a lawsuit that challenged the National Day of Prayer (NDP) as unconstitutional. The court overturned the April 2010 ruling by U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb, for the Western District of Wisconsin, that NDP violates the Establishment Clause of the United States Constitution. Two groups that represent a large percentage of atheists, the American Humanist Association and the Secular Coalition of America, seek to combat the National Day of Prayer by promoting the National Day of Reason, which is held on the first Thursday of May each year, the same day the National Day of Prayer is recognized. Rep. Pete Stark, a California Democrat, has sponsored a proclamation on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives giving his support to the cause and as an alternative for atheist Americans to celebrate “reason,” as opposed to prayer.

Continue to pray for our nation as the “prayers of righteous persons are powerful and effective”. James 5:16. The sovereign Lord listens to our cries, waits to intervene on our behalf and to deliver and transform the ills of our nation. (See e.g. Zephaniah 3:17). I believe that prayer is required and imperative for believers individually, and corporately as a nation, to pray continually throughout the year, not just on the National Day of Prayer. There is a need for faithful, preserving intercession for our leaders, government, families, education system, the legal system, churches, the armed forces and the media. Our prayers will impact generations to come if we continue to seek the Lord’s guidance and protection and be obedient to His Word.

“A Time of Repentance” by Linda Fegins

The Lenten Season (February 22 to April 7) is a time of repentance, self-examination, fasting and prayer in preparation for Resurrection Sunday (Easter). “Renewing our sense of who we really are before God is the core of the Lenten experience”. (Pastor Orville K.Littlejohn, my Pastor, “Our Focus for Ash Wednesday”). So today seek God with a repentant heart (See Joel 2: 12-24) and let us honestly search our hearts (Psalm 139:23-24). Here is an example of a prayer of repentance to help you get started in initating self-examination , prayer and a spirit of repentance. Then we will examine what is repentance and why it is important to our prayer lives and our relationship with God.

A Prayer of Repentance
Lord, I come humbly before You and ask you to cleanse my heart of my every sin. “Have mercy on me O, Lord according to your loving kindness and blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly of my iniquity and cleanse me of all of my sin. (Psalm 51:1-2) Lord create in me a clean heart. Please Lord renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:10-11). Forgive me for thoughts I have had, words I have spoken and things that I have done that are not pleasing in your sight and do not glorify you. Father, forgive me I pray for my sins of_______(state them)________________________. I confess it is a sin and truly repent of these acts, words and thoughts. ( 1 John 1:9; Psalm 32:5 Proverbs 28:13, Psalm 51:6, 10). Lord search the inwards hidden places of my heart and reveal my sin to me that I may not see. (Psalm 139: 23-24). I seek to repent of everything that You show me Lord. I confess my sins to you in the full realization that you are faithful and just to forgive me of all my sins and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness.( 1John 1:9) I know that my sins are against You and You only. Grant me a broken, willing spirit and a contrite heart so I can offer it to You (Psalm 51:1-4, Psalm. 51:12, Psalm 51:17).

Thank you Father. I desire to obey your commandments and statutes. I choose to stop my sinful ways and to turn to walk upright. Help me, Lord God to bring forth fruits that are worthy of repentance (Luke 3:8). Lord I want to live a righteous, pure and holy life through your power (Colossians 1:11). I am determined to walk in the Spirit and in your ways and walk away from my sins by the power of the Holy Ghost. Grant me a godly sorrow that is not just full of regret because of the consequences of sin but sorrow that leads to true repentance (2 Corinthians 7:9-10). Lord give me a tender heart that is sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and the conviction of sin. Holy Spirit, thank You for convicting me of my sin. Forgive me for the ways I’ve ignored Your voice and quenched and grieved You. (John 16:8; Ephesians. 4:30; 1 Thessalonians 5:19; Romans. 8:1-2). Lord I praise you, Father, for your goodness that leads to repentance (Romans 2:4). Lord thank you for restoring my soul so that the times of refreshing my come (Acts 3:19). Amen.

It is important to note that a repentant heart is not limited to a special season or time of the year. If we want to have effective prayer lives which bring forth life transformation and healing of the land, repentance must become a part of our lifestyle. Despite the benefits of repentance, we are resistant to the thought of repentance. Repentance isn’t a popular word. Our culture encourages us to do whatever we want when we want. TV, music videos and movies very rarely show the consequences of our sins.

It is one thing to know that you have done something that is wrong . But it is another to be saddened and sorrowful about your actions and determine that you will turn away from that sin and never do the act again. To repent “I” or “we” must come to terms with and acknowledge that we have sinned and then turn away from such sinful behavior and be reconciled back to our loving Lord. Therefore, repentance is a change of mind that involves both a turning from sin and turning to God. Christ began his ministry with a call to repentance. (Mathew. 4:17). We must examine every attitude, every motive, every action and ever word of evil. Repentance means that you are deeply godly sorrowful and hurt about what you have done unto the Lord and that you are determined to do all that you can not to commit that sin again. “Repentance means we are sorry about our sin to the point of grief, and we have turned and walked away from it”. Stormie Omartian, “The Power of a Praying Woman” p. 40, Harvest House Publishers,(2002).

Charles Spurgeon writes:
Repentance is a discovery of the evil of sin, a mourning that we have committed it, a resolution to forsake it. It is, in fact, a change of mind of a very deep and practical character, which makes the man love what once he hated, and hate what once he loved.
J. I. Packer writes:
Repentance means turning from as much as you know of your sin to give as much as you know of yourself to as much as you know of your God, and as our knowledge grows at these three points so our practice of repentance has to be enlarged.

Before we can truly repent we must admit our sins and tell them to God. Confession means we recognize we have done wrong and admit it. We cannot hide from God no matter how we try. God knows what “I” have done and wants “me and you” to know and admit in detail what “I” have done. Dick Eastman, in “The Hour That Changes the World”, says, “Confession is a heartfelt recognition of what we are. It is important to God because it indicates that we take seriously our mistakes and failures. Of course, God does not ask us to confess our sins because He needs to know we have sinned, but because He knows that we need to know we have sinned”. Dick Eastman, “The Hour That Changes the World”,p.42 , Baker Book House, (1999). If we do not confess our sins one consequence is that our prayer life will suffer as God will not hear our prayers if we have iniquity in our hearts (Psalm 66:18).

God offers many wonderful results of repentance, including healing, restoring, freedom, joy and reconciliation. In Acts 3:19 the call to repentance invites you to “repent, then turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord”.

Action Steps:
1. During the Lenten season I want to encourage you to join this or a 40 day Prayer Journey even if you are beginning at day 7 or whatever day. Just begin where you are. Determine to spend quality time with the Lover(God) of your soul every day. Decide to start out with half an hour and increase it slowly. Be diligent and be faithful. We can never grow or develop an intimate relationship with God unless we spend quality time with Him.
2. Confess any sin you may be guilty of against man and God. Ask God to search you and reveal any unconfessed sin.
3. Say or write a prayer of repentance out of your heart. Above is an example of a prayer of repentance. Your prayer need not be perfect, but sincere, sorrowful and heartfelt.
4. Have a journal. God has so much to speak into your life. It may not happen overnight if you haven’t been praying on a consistent basis. But remember He is right there. Don’t give up.
5. Leave a prayer request.
6. Listen to a corporate Prayer of Repentance and other prayers by Evangelist Rita Green and Missionary Minetta Hare on blogtalk radio “The New Voice”.”A Time to Pray” Click on http://tobtr.com/s/2822019 .

Linda Fegins, “The Prayer Leader” has served as Prayer Coordinator for over 13 years( later Director over the Prayer Minstry) for the Lydia Circle Christian Buisness and Professional Women. Tebowing -Unashamedly by Delisha Easley

As we are all still making sure to stay in line with our goals let’s make sure we are achieving the correct goals. The worst thing is to pursue something only to find out it’s not for you. For example, when we major in Business Administration for three years only to find out our real passion is Education. We feel like we have wasted our time. The same is true when pursuing any goal financially, spiritually, or physically. I have found we often don’t pursue our true passions or goals because we are ashamed of them.
Tim Tebow is currently a great example of a young famous athlete that makes it quite clear what he has a passion for sharing his faith and football. However, he makes it clear that he wouldn’t be as highly favored in football if it wasn’t for his faith in Jesus Christ.

I can only imagine that when Tebow first begin praying on the field back in high school he was probably a little nervous about what others may think or say. He like many of us have decided NOT to be ASHAMED! Three questions to answer in order to live the UNASHAMED LIFE:
1. Does anyone know your true passion?
2. What do you want to be remembered by?
3. Are you making an impact?

I’m not sure what you are unashamed of so I’ll share what I used to be ashamed of:
1. Wanting to remain a virgin until marriage
2. Sharing my faith in Christ Jesus
Surprising I know!:) However, I believe often the things we are ashamed of is really the fear of what would happen if we really embraced our passions! Since overcoming these fears I’ve travelled the world sharing the love of Jesus Christ with thousands and have written a book Not Everyone is Having Sex

Scripture: “If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” (Mark 8:38, NLT)

Praying Through a Financial Challenge by Samirian Hill

Save Now, I beseech thee, O Lord: O Lord I beseech thee, send now prosperity.” Psalms 118:25 KJV

You probably can relate to this cry for help, especially over the last few years. If you believe God is your source, the Great Recession, as it is called, should not frighten you. A phrase you may have heard often is, “I am not participating in this recession.” While that is the proper attitude to assume for believers, unfortunately, many household budgets, whether directly or indirectly, have been impacted by the economic downturn. Bankruptcies and foreclosures are at all time highs, while property values declined. Interest rates on credit cards skyrocketed, while available balances and limits were slashed and interest rates on fixed investments are at an all time low. Furthermore, groceries and gasoline prices increased, while paychecks, bonuses, and raises declined, if not eliminated. Not many people escaped the wrath of this economic tsunami!

If your finances have not been affected, then Praise the Lord! You truly have not participated in the “recession”. If your finances were adversely affected, you still do not have to allow external circumstances to move you to fear. Regardless of what APPEARS to be happening, God is still on the throne. Greater is He that is within you, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). Look to Jesus, who is the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrew 12:2), not to the news media, government, employers or anywhere else.

Consequently, if you were not managing your money wisely, the economic shift probably exposed your flaws and fallacies. Financial decisions of the past may have come back to bite you on the backside. Don’t be dismayed. God is a God of second chances. He is a merciful God, gracious, compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love (Neh 9:17). If your finances took a hit, forgive yourself and press forward.

So, how do we move forward from financial turmoil into financial healing? The writer of Psalm 118 gives us some insight on how to seek God in the midst of a trial. Let’s take a look at his approach:

1. Praise and Worship the Lord for who He. “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good and His love endures forever” (v.1).

2. Build up your confidence in the Lord and begin to confess the victory. “In my anguish I cried to the Lord and he answered by setting me free “(v.5). “The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies” (v.7).

3. Make your request know to God by asking directly for what you needed. “O Lord, save us; O Lord, grant us success” (v.25).

4. Conclude your petition with gratitude and thanksgiving. “You are my God and I will give you thanks, you are my God and I will exalt you” (v.28).

In short, cry out to God and ask for what you need financially, but be sure that you are asking in faith, not fear and worry. Without faith, it is impossible to please God and you first have to believe that He exists and that He is the rewarder of those that diligently seek Him (Heb 11:6). Be anxious for nothing, but with prayer and supplication and with thanksgiving, make your request known to God and may the peace of God guard your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus (Phil 4:6). When you cry out again, He’ll hear you from heaven and in His compassion, He will deliver you time after time (Neh 9:28). Follow the psalmist’s example and ask boldly, with confidence, gratitude and praise.

Pray for 09/11 Survivors

For 9-11 Survivors

G-d of the survivor,
G-d of the mourner and the witness,

Grant solace and peace to those still held by physical, emotional and spiritual distress from the attacks of 9-11. Release them from visions of death and destruction, from guilt or shame, from fear or anger. Bind their wounds with Your steadfast love. Lift them on Your wings of kindness and grace.

Blessed are those who have found peace.
Blessed are those without tranquility.
Blessed are those who speak.
Blessed are those who stay silent.
Blessed are those who have healed.
Blessed are those who suffer.
Blessed are those who forgive.
Blessed are those who cannot forgive.
Blessed are You, Adonai our G-d, Source of strength for survivors of violence and tragedy in every land and in every age. Blessed are You, Rock of Israel, Source of hope and comfort.

A O9//11 Survivor: Nicole B. Simpson

On 9/11/2001, the United States was faced with the great tragedy of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Many people were directly exposed to this massive traumatic event. Researchers are beginning to understand the attacks’ enduring toll on mental health. Recent Studies have shown long-term psychological and neurological repercussions in adult witnesses who were near the World Trade Center and in children who lost a parent in the tragedy. On the eve of ten years later 09/11/11 we hear survivors sharing the long term consequences of the terrorist attacks.

Hope

World Trade Center survivor Nicole B. Simpson has faced many mental, spiritual, emotional and financial struggles over the years from the ill- fated day. Simpson documents in her book, 9/11/01, A Long Road Toward Recovery, how almost ten years since the ill-fate day, she as well as other survivors, still feel the after effects of the tragedy and its unknown enduring toll on their lives. Nicole B. Simpson went on a mission to determine first-hand the thoughts and emotions of people who survived. 09/11/01 A Long Road Toward Recovery represents the voice, thoughts, and the emotional journey of the 09/11 survivors. What are the survivors’ struggles and the effects this tragedy had on their family life, finances, career life and their relationship with God?

Recognizing the call of ministry on her life, even Simpson asked the question “Where was God?” Yet she recognizes that He was there all the time. This book not only shares frank eye-opening information in an easy to read personal and authentic manner, but the book offers hope to survivors. Simpson encourages survivors to embrace the destiny and purpose awaiting for them to fulfill. Simpson’s account speaks volumes as to how we are more than conquerors over adversity and obstacles with faith in God. Nicole is no longer a victim, but serves as a resource for people who have experienced trauma and catastrophic events in their lives.
