Prayer for Teachers is Needed!

Every day for the last three weeks I have been posting specific strategic daily prayers for students , their schools and college and the education mountain under PROJECT PASS- Praying Always for Students and Schools. I have requested your child’s, grandchild, nephew etc name and school/college from  Pre-K through college. Prayer is need for our teachers as well who have to teach our children.  Yes , teachers need prayer and encouragement as they deal with our children, some unruly children, children who have special needs , and family issues that teachers need to address.

Let’s pray for their dedication to education and for their protection.

Teachers- Pray for Passion and Dedication

Ask God to rise up godly teachers and educators who are dedicated to their field and can capture the hearts and minds of our nation’s children and youth on each level of education. (Colossians 1:9-10) Pray that your child(ren)’s teacher is instilled with passion and a love for students and teaching and will spark a passion for learning in the students. Pray that the teacher helps the students discover a talent or interest that motivates their desire to learn (1 Corn. 15:58)

Teachers- Protection
Pray that God will protect teachers and other educators and keep them physically safe in the classrooms and on the school grounds. Dismantle any plan to harm them. Protect them from negative and evil political pressures and policies. (Psalm 91; John 17:15)

We need to continually uplift the entire educational system and all those involved in the mountain of education which includes our teachers and administrators. Teachers need much prayer too. We need teachers who are committed to effectively teaching our children.  Schools must be safe for teachers as well as students.

Teachers are important and need prayer and encouragement. I salute qualified teachers who are dedicated to the work and who care about the students. They are so important and deserve decent pay. We want to make sure that teachers are qualified and care about delivering quality education without regard to the race or economic status of the student.

Teachers are teaching and training our children 5 days a week. They need prayer as a part of our children’s life. The prayer of agreement is powerful and we must join our voices and hearts to consistently pray for those involved in educating our children

On the other hand we must guard against negative attitudes of teachers that adversely affects how and what they teach children and how the teacher treats diverse students. We cannot tolerate teachers who make negative remarks about students and who do not really want to teach them. Below are specific prayer points to pray for our teachers. https://www.facebook.com/PrayActWriteRight

Prayer Points for Teachers:

  • Pray that our children will be open to learning new knowledge and to acquire both secular and spiritual knowledge. Pray that God would give them the wisdom to know how to understand and use that knowledge and they use it rightly and for good. (Proverbs 22:6) (2 Timothy 2:15)
Pray for our school teachers to have the wisdom needed to effectively impart knowledge to their students. A wise teacher makes learning a joy… (Proverbs 15:2a)
    • Pray for our school teachers that God will give them the grace to deal with day-to-day frustrations and problems.
    • Pray that our school teachers would exhibit the life of Christ before our children. That they would be filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness.
    • Pray to the one in charge of the harvesting, and ask him to recruit more effective teachers with integrity for our schools. ( See Matthew 9:38)
    • Ask God to rise up Godly educators who are dedicated to their field and can capture the hearts and minds of our nation’s youth on each level of education. (Colossians 1:9-10)
    • Pray our educators will pray unceasingly for guidance and wisdom to become the examples to their students. (I Peter 2:21) Pray they will know how to pray for their students.
    • Pray that teachers will impart godly wisdom to form godly character in their students. (Luke 6:40)
  • Pray for our school teachers that God will give them the grace to deal with day-to-day frustrations and problems.

The Challenge:

  • State the name of your child or college student and their school.
  • Adopt a school or college in your community or where your child attends to daily pray for using the prayer points from prior posts.
  •  State the name of a teacher you want to pray for.

Stop the Violence At School !

We must stop the violence at schools around the country. My heart is broken for the family that lost their daughter  Danyna Gibson  this week to a senseless killing by stabbing at the hands of a fellow student in the class room at a Warren, Michigan high school while other students stood shocked. The teens had once been friends,  were A students, but one became angry  and jealous and decided to take a butcher knife to school to kill Danyna over a boy. Lord have mercy!. Stop the Violence at School Lord!

Pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children” (Lam. 2:19)

Pray for and Vote in the 2018 State and Local Elections

It is imperative the we pray for and then vote in the 2018 local and state elections. We want to make wise decisions. However, we must pray for  our cities local elections. Yes our hope and trust is not in the election but in God. But God states in  Jeremiah 29:7-“ Seek peace and well-being for the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf; for in its peace (well-being) you will have peace”. Yes, pray and vote.  We need peace , effective social  and economic  services , a good educational system , and  to stop the violence that plagues our cities. Why should we pray for the elections? A few reasons for praying are:

  1. The Bible tells us to pray for those in authority over us and are in leadership. 1 Timothy 2: 1-2. This includes those who are seeking position in leadership.
    2. Throughout the Bible we see that when men and women of integrity were chosen by God’s standards the people and the nation fared well , were delivered out of adverse circumstances or diverted evil. “Righteousness exalts a nation..” The selection of leaders according to God’s leading and not out of racism and favoritism , can bring great blessing to a nation, city and state.

Prayer Points
• Pray for the election process- integrity, against voter suppression and racist tactics.
• Pray for honest, compassionate, and concerned  for the poor  leaders. Pray for wise leaders with integrity will arise.

• Pray for the judges of this nation, that they would seek the wisdom that comes from above.
• Pray for the salvation of local government leaders.
• Pray for the salvation of national government leaders

The local elections in our communities are just as important as the national elections. We must begin to get the foundation of our government leaders on the local and state responsive to the needs of our cities. Remember we are God’s ambassador’s and we should take righteous action to carry out His purposes in the earth for the protection of the  poor, oppressed and hurting. God is concerned about government and nations, especially as they relate to issues of justice and oppression of their own people and obeying His Word.

So pray and then get out and vote, participate and serve others.

The Prayer Leader, Linda Fegins

Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!

When the believer has acknowledged God in the beauty of His holiness, the windows of heaven are opened. True worship bursts into the heart of man. Hallelujah is the primary word of worship in the Bible. Hallelujah leaps from the lips of the man or woman of prayer every time a new thought of the goodness, greatness, and majesty of God dawns upon his or her soul.

The need of this generation is for men and women who face life with their eyes fixed on the Savior. We need an army of worshipers. Our churches, communities, and countries will be transformed by men and women who have encountered the loving, eternal, holy Father. We need a generation of prayer warriors that will rearrange their priorities and see the face of God.

Loving, eternal, Holy Father, I long to worship You in spirit and in truth. One day in Your courts is better than a lifetime in the most beautiful house on earth. Ignite Your Church, Lord, so that we are filled with passion for the sake of Your kingdom! Draw Your people into Your holy presence, and fill us with words of passionate praise. Transform us by the renewing of our minds so that every generation will saturate the earth with worshipful hallelujahs!

Prayer Points

Praise the one who came as the Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6). Thank Jesus for giving peace to his beloved ones (Jn. 14:27). Confess those times when you’ve allowed Satan to fill your soul with unrest. Commit yourself to bearing the fruit of peace by the power of the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5:22). Ask God to guard your heart and mind today with his peace (Phil. 4:7).

Warfare, bloodshed, strife, and turmoil mar every corner of the globe these days. But the good news is that Christ came “to reconcile to himself all things . . . by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross” (Col. 1:20). Pray for all those who seek to bring Christ’s reconciliation to a restless world.

The Influence of A Praying Grandfather

What a source of joy and blessing when teen age grandchildren recognize the gift of love and prayer that a  grandfather has sown into their lives. Let It strengthens the family when a father, grandfather and men pray in the home. Oh, the great influence of a praying Grandfather.  Fervent prayers for children and grandchildren regarding their destiny and for their protection will bring forth much fruit.

Grandfather McGinnis’ Influence

Deacon Shurman McGinnis( picture below) has given his grandchildren, Shanelle and Shurman ,a solid sense of direction  by demonstrating to them  a consistent and fervent prayer life. When a father, grandfather or a parent teaches a child to pray and to make prayer a part of the foundation of their lives, they give them the ultimate gift, benefit and blessing. A praying grandfather demonstrates to his grandson or granddaughter how to go before the Lord and how to have a friendship with the Lord. He teaches the grandchild to seek the Lord  for guidance and direction  and to find strength and courage to face the circumstances they must face as youth. The Word states “When I called , you answered me: you made me bold and stouthearted”. Ps 138:3

Accordingly,  teach  your children or grandchildren to pray a prayer when they wake up in the morning,  to pray in the car on the way to school and  to allow them to pray over family situations and decisions  , that are age appropriate for ,  such as where do we go on vacation  etc.

We see the benefits of prayer in a letter Deacon McGinnis received from his granddaughter Shanelle.  His granddaughter was given a school assignment to write a letter to a wise person in her life.  She thought instantly of her grandfather. Shanell states that “When ever I ever have any questions about a scripture or if I need help finding something in the Bibe, I can always count on you to help me”.

Letters from Teen Grandchildren

She  further wrote in her letter to  “Granddaddy”  how his prayers had given her wisdom. She explained:

Dear Grandaddy,

You always tell me of how proud you are of me for praying , and singing at church. But did you ever think of my close relationship with God may be because of your prayers? Yes, I always feel God’s presence when I hear you pray. I like how you try to teach people more about God when you welcome the visitors at your church too. This makes me want to do more for God.  The Bible says in Proverbs 22:17, “Pay attention and listen to the saying of the wise: apply your heart to what we teach.” Also in Proverb 3:6 says, “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight”. So I thank God for the things He has shown me through you. I also thank God  for  the work He has done through me. I pray that God will continue to use us because  like Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed”.

So I just want to say thank you Granddaddy for your commitment to prayer. I also want to thank you for showing me different ways to show my love to God too. I love you.

Sincerely, Shanelle

Deacon’s  Shurman‘s   grandson Shurman, his namesake,  wrote to his Grandfather:

Hey Grandaddy,

I am writing this letter because I want to thank you for being a really wise and strong man in my life. You are  like the rock of our family and whenever you bring us together you always make sure we take time to pray and honor  God.

…  You have trained me to always pray. I watch how you pray before we eat and before we get on the road and anytime something good or bad happens you always pray. So I know how important it is to pray.  I also see that you pray  to Him a lot because you trust Him and even though things may not always go my way I am learning to trust God.

… Granddaddy I am so proud to carry your name and I know that if I continue to pray and  trust God that I will one day become a strong and wise man like you.

Shurman McGinnis

What a legacy Grandfather McGinnis  is creating  for his  grandchildren! It is important  to teach our grandchildren and children how to communicate and grow in relationship with God as they seek Him and His will.

Celebrate Fathers! Share Your Story.

Let’s celebrate Father’s. Father’s Day does not get the same overwhelming celebration as Mother’s Day. Fathers have an important role in the family and in the lives of their children. There are many quiet good black fathers and we need to celebrate them.

Let’s celebrate the men in our lives. Celebrate the fathers, brothers, uncles, friends, and sons in your lives.  Recognize what the mighty good Father and men in your life mean to you. Take this month, to acknowledge the important role that the fathers, both natural and spiritual, play in the lives of their children; as role models, care givers, providers, protectors, and supporters. Acknowledge how men serve you and the women in their lives as good husbands, providers, protectors, supporters, friends, supporters of equality for women in the work place, and who take out the garbage.  Thank God for the father, uncle, brother, who will be there if your car  stopped or if your heart has been  broken  and the myriad of other roles that men play in the lives of women and children.

This month as we celebrate Father’s Day let’s honor and pray for fathers, who may not be perfect, but who love their children, train their children, protect their children and have good relationships with their children. The week prior to Father’s Day I challenge you to share positive comments and reflections about your father, father figures, grandfathers, mentors and committed men. Please share your story and comments.

The admiration Kim Bracey has for her father shines through every time she speaks of him. Kim Bracey will tell you she thought her father was “God” for the longest because he provided for her and was there every time she needed him. When I asked for persons to share stories or to make a comment about their father , Kim proudly stated:

James L. Bracey absolutely one of the best. When God picked out the father for me He just out did Himself. For a long time I thought he was God because he provided for our family with a roof over our heads, food on the table, clothes on our backs and loved us unconditionally. Above all he loved God and God loves him back. All that he has been granted in heaven he so deserved. I miss him like crazy but I thank God for letting me have him as long as I did.

Rene Wallace shared that her over 70 year old father, who has now passed, still talked as if this middle aged daughter was his responsibility. Jeanette Johnson’s father has been dead for over 12 years but she talks about her father frequently with love and respect. Her honor and respect for his wisdom radiates from her heart for this man who only had a third grade education. He was full of wisdom, strength, and integrity and provided for his children and adored his wife. Her father owned land and property and feed neighbors who were poor. When she speaks of him you can hear and feel the respect and honor she has for him. It was touching to hear their comments.

Please share your positive experience with your father and what your relationship means to you.

Please share your positive experience with your father and what your relationship means to you.

Three things you can also do to show your appreciation.

  1. Brag on the good father and/or man or men in your life all month long not just on Father’s Day. Say “Thank You”. Let him know you appreciate him. Men need encouragement. “We should seize every opportunity to give encouragement. Encouragement is oxygen to the soul.” “A word spoken in due season, how good is it! Proverbs 15:23b.
  2. Encourage him to get a Check up. Men’s health issues significantly impact everyone around them and far too many men do not ever see a doctor unless there is something seriously wrong or a partner or spouse makes the appointment for them.
A good time to do just that is June, which is Men’s Health Month. Men’s Health Month is intended to increase awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.
  3. Pray for the good father and men in your life. Here are some specific prayer points for men in general and for fathers.

Prayer focuses for fathers in general:

-Salvation
–For fathers identity to be centered in Christ-like servant leadership.-For vision in their lives that would serve family and serve and advance God’s purpose.
-To be the honorable priest and leaders of their homes.
-We call fathers back to their children to love, nurture and teach them.
-That fathers will look to God as the ultimate spiritual head of their homes.
-That absentee fathers would change their lifestyle to nurture their children and wives.
That children will see the character of the heavenly Father in the lives of their dads.
-Fatherless children- that loving and nurturing father figures and mentors will arise in their live.

-Pray for Christian fathers to embrace their God given role as loving guides of their children and to not exasperate them, instead bringing them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. (Eph 6:4)
-Men’s Health- June is Men’s National Health month pray that fathers and men will obtain. prostate cancer and other physical examinations.
-Boys who need father figures ; may they find mentors and father figures.
