Season of Thankfulness: Thanking God Always. (Days26-28)

Monday is Day 27 of the Season of Thankfulness. I hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving Day celebration with family and friends. You have much to thank God for. Think about it and then thank the Lord.

Even if everything is not like what you want it to be, give thanks to God anyway. My family had to celebrate the unexpected homegoing services of my respected and loved 38 year old cousin who died of an asthma attack on Saturday, two days after Thanksgiving Day . Imagine the broken hurts of his parents and his brand new wife. Lord have mercy. Yet we gave thanks to God for strength and comfort. He still is a good God.  We are praying for his parents and his wife of three weeks.

God’s command is “In every thing give thanks”; and the command is emphasized by the declaration, “for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thess. 5:18, KJV). It is an actual positive command. If we want to obey God, we have simply got to give thanks in everything. There is no getting around it.

Sometimes we have to Hallelujah anyway! What does that mean? We must believe God is blessing us always, and we must be thankful at all times.  Instead of blaming God and complaining when things go wrong, thank God anyway. Believe that God will turn a tragedy into a triumph. It does not mean you understand the occurrence, don’t hurt and that you don’t cry. It means you will still have a thankful heart and praise the Lord.

At the funeral services over 20 persons came to the altar to  give their hearts to the Lord and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Hallelujah!

O give thanks unto the Lord! Call upon His name; make known his deeds among the people!(1 Chronicle16:8-10) No matter what the circumstance give thanks that you have a prayer hearing God, that has unfamthonable love for and that you are more than a conqueror.

No Matter What, Give Thanks! by Song of Joy

No Matter What, Give Thanks!

“ In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”  1 Thessalonians 5:18

Can you remember a time when you did something wrong but it worked out for your good?” One day I was reading from the book “Power of Praise” while driving. (I know, I know it was a NO-NO – reading while driving.) It was like I was drawn to keep reading. When I stopped at the traffic light on 7 Mile and Hubbard on my way to tutor some children at a home school, I was still reading when the light changed and I didn’t take off. There wasn’t anyone behind me so no one blew a horn. I just kept on reading and the next thing I knew a car came speeding by and ran the green light. I yelled, “Thank You Jesus!”.

I still had time to go, but I just sat there through another red light and thanked God. Also, I had to give my heart time to slow down because it was racing a mile a minute.  Just the thought of what might have happened If I had not been reading, “Power of Praise” scared me. l would have been hit.

I remember another time when I and two  of my daughters  were returning from shopping for a family of 3 for Angel Tree. Angel Tree is an organization that showers children with gifts whose parent/parents are incarcerated. As we were leaving the store the aroma of the popcorn was so overpowering that I broke down and purchased 3 bags. I reminded the girls to be very careful and not to drop one kernel because we were not to be eating in the car. Guess What? You may be thinking, “The girls dropped kernels.” Right! But not only did the girls drop popcorn but I did my share, but it’s how that will make you say, “WOW.”

We stopped at a traffic light (yes, another traffic light- but I wasn’t reading) on Grand River and Beech Daly to let a couple of Fire Trucks go by, but the vehicle behind me, plus 4 others didn’t stop. The Buick behind me pushed us under the Van that was in front of me. Each time there was a bump we were going even further under the van, yelling “Jesus” and throwing popcorn. It was a sight! When it was over, all the popcorn was out of the bags all over the car. When we got out of the car and I asked the girls if they were OK. My next statement was, “Daddy is going to get us. We got popcorn all over the car.” We jumped back in the car and proceeded to pick-up the popcorn before my husband, Javan got there. Psalm 34: 8(a) says, “O taste and see that the LORD is good”. Well, that popcorn tasted good, but the goodness of the LORD tasted even better!

When we got home the 3 of us headed to the basement and we prayed and thanked the Lord that we didn’t get hurt. I even got some olive oil and anointed our heads and necks so we wouldn’t be sore the next day.

A Thankful Prayer

Most grateful Father, thank You for opportunities to be able to give You thanks and praise even when I am not following You according to Your Word. I thank You for being God by Yourself for there is no other God like You. “Oh that men would praise the Lord for His mighty Acts.” I praise You for being a God that never slumbers nor sleeps. Amen

Brag on God and Say Thank You!

It is an actual positive command. If we want to obey God, we have simply got to give thanks in everything. There is no getting around it.

So Brag on the King of Kings and the one who loves you unconditionally. Brag on God this month and really everyday give thanks to the Lord. Whatever you can say about Him -Tell Him how He is better than that….. Give a word of thanks and/ or praise.

“Oh, that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men! Ps. 107:21

Praise_Him[1]

“And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and rehearse His deeds with shouts of joy and singing! Ps 107:22.

Sometimes we are so busy looking at our problems or situations and what is wrong in the world and our lives, we forget to remember to be thankful. The people of Israel demonstrated this time and time again. How many times God delivered Israel and protected them time and time again and they would forget His deliverance and blessings and complain. Jesus also illustrates this in the story of the 10 lepers (Lk 17:11-19). God answered a prayer and only the Samaritan returned to give thanks, for he knew what it was like to be cut off from God’s blessings and fellowship.

Brag on God with thanksgiving and Praise. What are you specifically thankful for?
Thank Him for all He has done!

Ephesians 5:20 – Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This week each day I challenge each of us to brag on God and specifically think about, and thank the Lover of Your soul for all His blessings to you. Then open your mouth with the sacrifice of praise and Tell God and others how thankful and grateful you are. Below is an example of how each day we can Brag on God and give Him thanks.

Day 18- Brag on God and be Grateful. Tell Him how grateful and thankful you are.

Because there’s someone else who’s worse off than you
Be Grateful (Be Grateful)
Because there’s someone else who’d love to be in your shoes
Be Grateful ( Be Grateful)
Oh yeah!
My God said he’d never, never foresake you!
Be Grateful (Be Grateful)oh yeah!
God said he would, he would never, never forsake you!
Be Grateful (Be Grateful)oh yeah!
Be Grateful Hallelujah!
Oh! Be Grateful
The Lord is the light!

Be Grateful (Be Grateful)Yeah, Yeah
Be Grateful
For everything you got!
Be Grateful (Be Grateful)Yeah, Yeah

It is good to remember that the tea kettle although up to its neck in hot water, continues to sing. ( God’s Instruction Book)

Day 22 Brag on God. Praise Him for His mighty works. Thank Him for all His daily benefits. Tell Him as great as you think – He is better than that. See the blessings of your life and Think, Thank and Tell that below and else where.

Some people complain because God put thorns on roses, while others praise Him for putting roses among the thorns.(God’s Instruction Book)

Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true…honest…just…pure…lovely…of good report;if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians.4:8

Day 23 Brag on God and thank Him for his goodness and mercy. Think, thank and tell of His goodness.

I praise you old God for you are a loving God whose very nature is love. (1 John 4:16)
