Encourage and Reflect on Father’s Day

“Encourage one another and build each other up” 1 Thess 5:11

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, Malachi 4:6

Father’s Day does not get the same overwhelming celebration as Mother’s Day. Fathers have an important role in the family and in the lives of their children. This month as we celebrate Father’s Day let’s honor reflect and encourage the father figures in our lives. Pray for fathers, who may not be perfect, but who love their children, train their children, protect their children and have good relationships with their children. I challenge you to share positive comments and reflections about the father, father figures, grandfathers, uncles, mentors and committed men in your life. Please share your story and comments.

Whether we’re celebrating our dads, stepdads, brothers, sons or other father figures in our lives, these men need to hear what a difference their lives and love makes.1 Thessalonians 5:11 CSB reminds us to “encourage one another and build each other up,” and Father’s Day is a chance for us build up the men in our lives.. Lift those dads up; celebrate their unique calling; remind them how much they’re appreciated every single day. This Father’s Day we can pray for the special men in our lives spend time with them and remember those who are no longer here.

Reflection

Fathers can be protective strong and stern, yet heartfelt and gentle. Let’s share precious stories so that we can encourage them. A couple of years ago on Radio station 1200 AM in the city of Detroit, John Mason, of Mason in the Afternoon, was asking for positive reflections and comments about one’s father, grandfather or a father figure. One reflection, by a man who called into the radio station to comment, touched my heart. He stated that his father taught him many things by his actions. He said he learned how to be a father and the protector of his family from his father. “When I was about 7 years old I went “trick or treating” on Halloween with some friends”, said the caller. “ A bigger boy stole our bags. All I could remember was seeing a flash go by and jump the fence. Next thing I knew I had my Halloween bag back. It was my father who jumped that fence. He had been watching and covering me all the time”. That story brought tears to my eyes because the actions of the father symbolized the love the heavenly Father has for us in that he watches over us and protects us. For the now grown caller it taught him how to watch over his family. Another gentleman called in and stated he “learned how to respect women because of how he saw his father respect and treat his mother”.

Prayer

We should pray for others. Prayer is a simple gift we can pray for the men in your life anytime and anywhere. Pray for their strength and guidance , spiritual growth , protection and health. Thank God for that father , grandfather or uncle’s presence in your life. Pray for grace and encouragement in their brokenness and in their daily lives.

A Prayer:

Lord in the name of Jesus, we thank you for fathers who love, train, provide for and protect their children. We pray that fathers will look to God as their ultimate spiritual father of their household, serving and caring for their children and families; Lord may absentee fathers change their mindset and lifestyles to nurture a relationship with their children. We pray that the Lord will turn the hearts of the father toward their children and the hearts of the children toward their fathers. Malachi 4:6. Lord may our children see the godly character of the heavenly Father in the lives of their dads.We pray for single fathers who are raising their children without a spouse to share the love and responsibility for their upbringing. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

You can also pray for:

-Salvation

-Strength and Spiritual Growth
-Men would seek God and honor His faithfulness, wisdom and truth
-For fathers identity to be centered in Christ-like servant leadership
-For vision in their lives that would serve family and serve and advance God’s purpose
-To be the honorable priest and leaders of their homes
-We call fathers back to their children to love, nurture and teach them.
-That fathers will look to God as the ultimate spiritual head of their homes.
-That absentee fathers would change their lifestyle to nurture their children and wives
That children will see the character of the heavenly Father in the lives of their dads.
-Fatherless children- that loving and nurturing father figures and mentors will arise in their live
-Men’s Health- June is Men’s National Health month pray that fathers and men will obtain prostate cancer and other physical examinations.
-Boys who need father figures ; may they find mentors and father figures.

Remembering:

Honor the memory of fathers who have passed on.. Proverbs 10:7 CSB says: “The memory of the righteous is blessed.” Spend time reflecting on the legacy your father left-how did they honor or show the love of God? What did they teach you about life, and how can we pass that wisdom along to others.

Jeanette Johnson’s father has been dead for many years but she talks about her father frequently with love and respect. Her honor and respect for his wisdom radiates from her heart for this man who only had a third grade education, but was full of wisdom , strength, and integrity who provided for his children and adored his wife and owned land and property and feed neighbors who were poor. When she speaks of him you can hear and feel the respect and honor she has for him.

Again I challenge you to share and leave your positive comment and reflections about your father, grandfather, stepdad or father figure. Share the color of the loving, positive, supportive relationship you had with the father figure in your life.

Always Pray -The Atmosphere of Prayer

Today is the National Day of Prayer. Jesus said to the disciples “…men always ought pray and not lose heart.”

I hope that you had time to join other believers all over the nation in praying for our country, families, and the world.

I know this email is late in the day, but I wanted to take advantage of the atmosphere of prayer that is present in the spirit realm right now. Our Father is always available to us. He is always open to our prayers, but while our hearts and spirits are bent toward Him because of the prayers we prayed for our nation, I thought why not take advantage of the residue of this day and call on the name of Jesus in corporate prayer for women. I’ve shared the prayer below

Father,

We gather as a group of your beloved daughters with humble and contrite spirits. First we offer you thanksgiving for the many gifts that you have given us. Our hearts are fully aware of your grace, your mercy, and the abundance that you have afforded us, so we’re grateful. We are a body of women who know that we serve a good, good God.

We repent of our sins. The sin of fear, lack of faith, and impatience. The sin of not believing who we are in Christ because if we knew who we were, we wouldn’t be fearful. We wouldn’t lack faith. We wouldn’t be impatient. We would be a people who walked in confidence that you are rich in kindness.

God help us to know what even as we struggle in individual areas of our lives and even though we are sometimes pressed on every side by trouble, we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed but we don’t give up and quit.

I pray for our relationships. Those with spouses, children, parents and friends. Help us to remember your word, even as we deal with relationships that may be difficult, that WE are salt and light. Help us to not be weary in well doing. We WILL reap a harvest if we faint not. Help us not to faint Lord. Strengthen us.

Help my sisters to know that daily time in prayer with you and in Bible Study will strengthen them and draw them closer to you. That in you we find comfort and peace.

Bless the marriages of my sisters. Bless our children. We proclaim that our children will grow up and not depart from your teachings. Where we have come up short as parents, you will take up the slack with your love. Your love covers a multitude of faults.

We seek the conviction of the Holy Spirit as we live our lives. We want to please you. We need to the Holy Spirit to speak to us and guide us. We desire the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Conviction is correction. It’s a way of turning us out of the path of sin. Help us to know that conviction is not condemnation. Release us from feelings of condemnation and ineffectiveness. We are your righteousness in the earth and there is no condemnation to those whom are in Christ Jesus.

Help us to walk in the truth of your word…that we are beloved regardless of who we are or what we’ve done simply because Jesus redeemed and restored us to a God whose image we bear. Thank you for your loving kindness. Thank you for your promises. Thank you for your grace.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Meditative Scriptures:

Ephesians 1:6-8 – To the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,  which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight. (ESV)

2 Corinthians 4:7-10, 5:7 – But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;  persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we walk by faith, not by sight. (NKJV)

Galatians 6:9 – And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (NKJV)

Love One Another on National Day of Prayer

National Day of Prayer

Thursday   May 2, 2019

Theme: “Love One Another”.

Love one another. Just as I have loved you.” John 13:34

Thursday May 2, 2019, is National Day of Prayer -The National Day of prayer focuses are Government, Church, Military, Family, Education, Media, and Business . The Theme for 2019 is  “Love One Another. John 13:34 is the national Scripture for this year: ““Love one another. Just as I have loved you.” John 13:34.

Many in our nation sense a growing division and hostility among the people of this nation. We have seen an increasing lack of civility and grace in how we communicate with one another in almost every sphere of society beginning with those in government leadership roles.

The apostle Paul urged that “requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone…that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (I Timothy 2:1-3). It is time for us to P. R. A. Y. as a nation corporately and individually ,in this turbulent time of open racism, rumors of wars and aggression, and troubled communities and cites. Pray that we will truly love one another as Christ has loved us. We need to go before the Lord to seek through prayer that we walk in love and for “peaceful and quiet lives” – for ourselves, our families, our neighbors, friends and our nation.

Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.

Every year, millions of Americans, in tens of thousands of meetings across all 50 states, come together for unified public prayer for America. Dr. Ronnie Floyd is the president of the National Day of Prayer.

The NDP emphasizes prayer for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church and Family (I Timothy 2:1-6). Pray for each of the areas. For guidance in how to pray for these areas see the prayer points below.

Let us continue to pray for our nation in prayer gatherings and in our homes. God throughout His Word tells us to pray that He may heal our land. 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Continue to pray for our nation as the “prayers of righteous persons are powerful and effective”. James 5:16. The sovereign Lord listens to our cries, waits to intervene on our behalf and to deliver and transform the ills of our nation. (See e.g. Zephaniah 3:17). Prayer is required and imperative for believers individually, and corporately as a nation, to pray continually throughout the year, not just on the National Day of Prayer. There is a need for faithful, preserving intercession for our leaders, government, families, education system, the legal system, churches, the armed forces and the media. Our prayers will impact generations to come if we continue to seek the Lord’s guidance and protection and be obedient to His Word.

Growing to Please God Through Repentance

The Lenten Season is a time of repentance, self-examination, fasting and prayer in preparation for Resurrection Sunday (Easter). “Renewing our sense of who we really are before God is the core of the Lenten experience”. (Pastor Orville K.Littlejohn, my Pastor,) “). Each day we want to search our hearts that we may grow to have the mind of Christ and grow to please God and to be more like Jesus.

So today on the 22nd day of the Lenton Season seek God with a repentant heart (See Joel 2: 12-24) and let us honestly search our hearts (Psalm 139:23-24). Here is an example of a prayer of repentance to help you get started in initiating self-examination , prayer and a spirit of repentance. Then we will examine what is repentance and why it is important to our prayer lives and our relationship with God.

A Prayer of Repentance
Lord, I come humbly before You and ask you to cleanse my heart of my every sin. “Have mercy on me O, Lord according to your loving kindness and blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly of my iniquity and cleanse me of all of my sin. (Psalm 51:1-2) Lord create in me a clean heart. Please Lord renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:10-11). Forgive me for thoughts I have had, words I have spoken and things that I have done that are not pleasing in your sight and do not glorify you. Father, forgive me I pray for my sins of_______(state them)________________________. I confess it is a sin and truly repent of these acts, words and thoughts. ( 1 John 1:9; Psalm 32:5 Proverbs 28:13, Psalm 51:6, 10). Lord search the inwards hidden places of my heart and reveal my sin to me that I may not see. (Psalm 139: 23-24). I seek to repent of everything that You show me Lord. I confess my sins to you in the full realization that you are faithful and just to forgive me of all my sins and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness.( 1John 1:9) I know that my sins are against You and You only. Grant me a broken, willing spirit and a contrite heart so I can offer it to You (Psalm 51:1-4, Psalm. 51:12, Psalm 51:17).

Thank you Father. I desire to obey your commandments and statutes. I choose to stop my sinful ways and to turn to walk upright. Help me, Lord God to bring forth fruits that are worthy of repentance (Luke 3:8). Lord I want to live a righteous, pure and holy life through your power (Colossians 1:11). I am determined to walk in the Spirit and in your ways and walk away from my sins by the power of the Holy Ghost. Grant me a godly sorrow that is not just full of regret because of the consequences of sin but sorrow that leads to true repentance (2 Corinthians 7:9-10). Lord give me a tender heart that is sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and the conviction of sin. Holy Spirit, thank You for convicting me of my sin. Forgive me for the ways I’ve ignored Your voice and quenched and grieved You. (John 16:8; Ephesians. 4:30; 1 Thessalonians 5:19; Romans. 8:1-2). Lord I praise you, Father, for your goodness that leads to repentance (Romans 2:4). Lord thank you for restoring my soul so that the times of refreshing my come (Acts 3:19). Amen.

It is important to note that a repentant heart is not limited to a special season or time of the year. If we want to have effective prayer lives which bring forth life transformation and healing of the land, repentance must become a part of our lifestyle. Despite the benefits of repentance, we are resistant to the thought of repentance. Repentance isn’t a popular word. Our culture encourages us to do whatever we want when we want. TV, music videos and movies very rarely show the consequences of our sins.

It is one thing to know that you have done something that is wrong . But it is another to be saddened and sorrowful about your actions and determine that you will turn away from that sin and never do the act again. To repent “I” or “we” must come to terms with and acknowledge that we have sinned and then turn away from such sinful behavior and be reconciled back to our loving Lord. Therefore, repentance is a change of mind that involves both a turning from sin and turning to God. Christ began his ministry with a call to repentance. (Mathew. 4:17). We must examine every attitude, every motive, every action and ever word of evil. Repentance means that you are deeply godly sorrowful and hurt about what you have done unto the Lord and that you are determined to do all that you can not to commit that sin again. “Repentance means we are sorry about our sin to the point of grief, and we have turned and walked away from it”. Stormie Omartian, “The Power of a Praying Woman” p. 40, Harvest House Publishers,(2002).

Join us for the remainder of the  40 Day Prayer Journey “Growing by the Power Within to Please God: Repenting for a Renewed Relationship With God”. Philippians 2:13.

The daily prayer points in this guide begin with stated scriptures applicable to the focus of the day. You are invited to seek God’s face to enable you to grow in the actions and thoughts that please God. You want to confess, repent and turn from actions and thoughts that grieve the Lord.
During the Forty Day Prayer Journey daily read the suggested scriptures. Meditate on the Word asking the Holy Spirit to speak to you and reveal in your heart how He wants you to respond personally and on behalf of your church or city. This is an opportunity for personal repentance. Ask the Lord to search your heart for thoughts and actions that are sinful. (Psalm 139:23-24) Allow the Lord to examine your life thoroughly.

Use a journal to write down what the Holy Spirit downloads in your heart.

Love Never Takes A Holiday

Happy Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day generally represents the celebration of love between couples. However, the deeper meaning is that we should celebrate God’s perpetual and steadfast love for us and how we should love Him with our whole heart and love our neighbor. It should be a celebration of relationships at all times even in difficult circumstances. Love  never takes a holiday. We should walk in love as much as possible throughout the year.

Beloved let us love one another: for love is God… 1 John 4:7-8.Thank God for loving YOU . Celebrate the love of Jesus with the lonely, depressed, and broken hearted. Give them a hug, a card, a smile , an encouraging Word or a gift. Love Never Takes A Holiday. Love God, your neighbor and one another. John 13:34-35

God is love and He wants us to demonstrate that love in our relationships with the “saved” and those who do not know Jesus Christ personally. We should live as a demonstration of His love, grace, mercy and truth so that we will glorify Him and so that someone may be saved, find hope, and know that the Lord and someone cares for them. Invite the Holy Spirit to search your heart to reveal areas where transformation needs to occur in you and in the church.

The Lord wants us to walk in love so we can reach out and bless others – the hurting, the homeless and the helpless and those persons grieving from loss of loved ones, relationships, job and facing change. Let’s be sensitive as to how we show love for one another. Bear one another’s burdens (E.g. Galations 6:2)  “Be kinds to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you” (Eph. 4:32). Speak without accusing. James 1:19. Genuine love is not easily offended; it does not hold a grudge; it does not place expectation or demands on others; it is not conditional. Love is an action word.

Look at the heart below for 10 Ways of showing love.

Scriptures: Ephesians 5:25-33; Colossians 3:19;John 3:1-21; 1 John 3:1-23; 1 John 4:11,20-21

Repent: Of declaring that we love others when demonstrating lack of love and concern for those who are lost and without Christ; of speaking love, but not showing love and mercy through deeds that touch the lives of those in the world around us; of not loving as the Word states especially within the household of faith , the family unit and our neighbor.

Receive: A fresh cleansing from the sin of not loving as Christ loves.

Pray:

  • Confess to the Lord the ways you have not loved and honored the lost, your neighbor and family members.
    • Ask the Lord to do a work in your heart that will release you from any spirit, thought or unforgiveness that blocks your relationship with those who do not know Jesus Christ, your neighbor and family members.
    • Pray that the Holy Spirit will empower you to forgive and for each of you to forgive each other.
    • Pray for healing of broken or embittered relationships.
    • Pray for relationships with your children and that as a parent you will demonstrate that love with encouragement, time and healthy discipline.
    • Pray that children will love, respect and obey their parents.
    • Pray for the church to be a living force of love in the neighborhood, city and world.
    • That you and the church will be known by your love for one another and for your love for those who are lost and do not know Jesus Christ.
    • Pray that the church and you show your neighbor, those who do not know the Lord, and the world genuine love in word and in deeds.
    • That the church be delivered from the spirit of legalism and released into a Spirit of truth love and liberty of the Spirit.
    • Pray for a deep love and respect between church members and also between family members. Pray for those suffering from domestic abuse. Pray for deliverance, self esteem , way of escape, renewed mind. https://ladyofprayer.com/?p=958.
Pray for our children -against bullying and suicide.or reconciliation where they are at odds.

Dream Big and Do Big.

“It isn’t a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled, BUT it is certainly a calamity not to dream.” Benjamin E. Mays- minister, educator, scholar, social activist and the president of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia from 1940 to 1967 #dreambig #calmitynottodream

As we celebrate Black History Month remember -Inventions, financial empowerment, entrepreneurial success, social changes and social justice can be achieved by those of you who make the bold decision to apply your knowledge, your energy and your talent to humanitarian goals. Think of how those we honor today gave to make a difference for others.
If it is encouraging, let him encourage;
if it is contributing to the needs of others,
let him give generously; if it is leadership,
let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. Romans 12:8 NIV

African American Victory of Spirit- Black Quotations- Persevere- Don’t Quit
“You never know which key unlocks the safe” . Bryant Gumbel, former Morning News Host #persevere
Success is achieved by those willing to persevere beyond the point where the majority stop and turn back. Today is your day.
God has given you talents, gifts and His Word. Take another step closer to your goal. Hold fast to the hope, the Word, to “doing” your dream if God put it there. (Hebrews 10:35-39)

Use the gifts and talents God gave you to bless others and to generate wealth. Dream Big . Pray Big. Then begin to take action to accomplish your dream. Write your goals down using the SMART system (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timeline) and set dates to accomplish the plan. Make the call. Develop a team. Start. Make the call. Write the book.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for the gifts and talents you have provided me. Let me use them to your glory and to bless others.  Let me not grow weary in preparing, in toiling to create the witty invention, to have entrepreneur success and to develop systems that will provide solutions to the needs of human kind. Give me favor and the wisdom and strength to persevere. In the name of Jesus.

Don’t Be So Quick to Give Up – Jacqui Showers

Showers’ Blessing Inspires

Encouraging you to become all God envisioned so you can experience what God S.A.W.W. (Spiritual Abundance Wholeness & Wealth).

Even when I tried to give up, I couldn’t. I tried, but I kept pushing forward and encouraging myself. Sometimes it appeared as though I was so exhausted I was going to drop. But I knew I had to keep forging ahead. If you have ever had to do anything, you know what I’m talking about. You know that it is not by your might or power, but by God’s spirit that propels you forward against all odds.

That’s why giving up can never be an option. You will do whatever it takes to persevere. You must recognize those things that will cause you to want to give up. There has to be something that loosens you from the grips of mediocrity, complacency and passiveness to become diligent, assertive and passionate in your pursuit to go all the way.

I push myself hard. I recognize that I can be consumed with perfectionism and never accomplish what I need to accomplish. I recognize it. There was a time when I didn’t want to recognize that it was a limitation that prevented me from being successful. Now, I confront it head on by calling it out and proactively operating with a spirit of excellence. How? I don’t have to have everything perfect—even if there was such a thing as perfection.

Excellence provides me with an understanding that everything is a work in progress and along the way I can always go back and perfect it. I cannot give up on it. Howbeit, when excellence is at the forefront of my game, I push myself hard. I know that I am not operating within the finiteness of my own strength. That means, if I pull all-nighters and only get a few hours of sleep within a 48-72 hour period, so be it. It’s all worth it!

You must be relentless in your assignment. Recognize those familiar foes that try to creep back into your life and cause you to stumble, fall and never get back up. Recognize new ones that try to blind sight you to give up. When you embrace the reality that every assignment given you has its own set of destiny busters, you will also be alert to their antics and thwart their assignment against your assignment. You won’t be so quick to give up.

Do you easily cave in when the going gets tough? What is causing you to give up? What are you going to do not to give up?
