Pondering and Praying the Word

The book of Proverbs is full of God’s wisdom, knowledge and understanding.  Proverbs instructs, “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life” (4:23). The heart is a metaphor for our inner being, the essence of who I really am. It is the dwelling place of my emotions, attitudes and intentions. I am called to be holy, a holy temple in the Lord, according to Ephesians 2:13-22, with Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone. This holiness is a result or by-product of my passion for the Lord, in pondering and praying the Word in passionate prayer. My love and passion for God and His Word awakens my heart and increases my awareness of His presence, restoring the fear of the Lord and my hunger and thirst for more of Him.

I encourage you to press on in pondering and praying the Word of God in passionate prayer, as you walk in the Spirit by faith, not according to the world, but by the work of the Holy Spirit, in the will of God the Father, in and through the ways of the Lord Jesus Christ, with the Word of God in your heart and mind, as it is in heaven upon the earth.

Almighty God, Your Word is filled with all wisdom, knowledge and understanding.  As I pray through all that You have said to me, help me to apply it to my life and to obediently allow Your truth to sink deeply into my heart.  May it transform me from the inside out so that my life will reflect Your kingdom to others.

–Adapted from Giving Ourselves to Prayer: An Acts 6:4 Primer for Ministry (Chapter 21, The Bible and Personal Passion in Prayer by Earl Pickard).

Prayer Points

Praise God, the one whose name is great among the nations (Mal. 1:11). Give thanks that the good news is being preached in so many countries today and that it has been proclaimed to you, too. Confess anything in your life which hinders your own witness to the saving grace of Christ. Commit yourself to regular prayer support of missionaries whom you know. Ask God to open doors for their ministries.

Your family can be a missionary family right in your neighborhood! Ask for opportunities for your family to be a witness among your neighbors and friends. (And then be ready when God answers!)

Rejoice! Jesus is A Way Maker!

Rejoice during this Holy Week. God is a Way Maker. When Jesus decided to march forward to death the cross, He was making a way for you and me to have eternal life and an abundant life. Glory! In John 14:6 Jesus declared Himself to be the way. “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” Jesus died on a cross for sins He didn’t commit so God could turn His back on His Son for three days to pay the penalty for our sins. Then Jesus rose from the dead securing a place for all of humanity in heaven if we will confess with our mouth Jesus is Lord [Matthew 26-28; Mark 12-16; Luke 22-24; John 13-21 and Romans 10:9]. He is a Way Maker.

God is a good God. REJOICE! Praise His name! Hopefully during the 40 Day Prayer journey you have repented from the things that displease God. I pray that you have striven to rise spiritually in study of the Word, in love for God and others,in faith, in walking in the Spirit and have increased in your personal and corporate prayer life.

Rejoice! During this Holy Week look forward to Resurrection Sunday.Seek the Lord , in the spirit of repentance and self examination , forgiveness and prayer for our city, families, and the nations. Praise His name that we know that we can be victorious as we celebrate Holy week with a heart of thanksgiving. Praise God for Victory.

Rejoice! God has made a way for you! He is working out every situation. Hold on and praise your way through it anyhow.  Keep you eyes on the “Way Maker”. He is able. He has a way. Surrender to Him so He can implement it. Cry out to the Way Maker today. He is able! Rise Up spiritually by worshiping God in the beauty of His holiness and greatness.

Renew by Mind

Renew My Mind

Father God, You who make all things new through the power of the Holy Spirit, renew my mind, I pray! May I not conform to the things of this world, but instead may I be continually transformed by the renewing of my mind with Your Word.

Lord in many ways I have been lazy and undisciplined in regards to the use of my mind. Forgive me, I pray, and renew my mind. I lay before you my use of my computer and technology, my TV and DVD viewing, the things I read . . . (Pause and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you.)

I have entertained philosophies of the world that are contrary to Your Word. Lord, forgive me and renew my mind. I lay before you the way that I have rationalized behavior or condoned values of this world. . . (Pause and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you.)

I have watered down the truth of Your Word in order to condone my sin. Lord forgive me and renew my mind. I lay before you the excuses that I have made for my thoughts, attitudes, and actions that are contrary to Your Word . . . (Pause and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you.)

I have allowed fear and anxious thoughts to overwhelm me. Lord, forgive me and renew my mind and make my heart steadfast. I choose now to cast all of my cares and fears onto You and ask that Your peace be poured out on me . . . (Pause and allow the Holy Spirit

to speak to you.)

Give me, I pray, a fresh hunger to study Your Word, that I might be equipped for every good work. And Father, in a world of watered-down truth, empty philosophies, and hopelessness, empower me by Your Spirit to be prepared to answer everyone who asks me to give the reason for the hope that I have. May Jesus be seen clearly in my daily living. Strengthen my faith, Father, for Your Word says that if I do not stand firm in my faith I will not stand at all. O God, help me to stand. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer Points

Praise God for being perfectly just in all his works. Thank him for loving righteousness and justice (Ps. 33:5). Confess any ungodly bias you harbor toward any people. Commit yourself to viewing others with a loving, Christlike attitude. Ask God to help you value justice more highly in all relationships of life.

Pray for the uprooting of governments which oppress their citizens and withhold justice from them. Ask that justice will “roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing

Celebrate the Women in Your Life

This is Women’s History Month. We have a great history. Today let’s think about and pray for the women in our lives who have influenced our lives even in small but impactful, endearing and /or life changing ways. The woman may have influence you to be or to strive to become a successful entrepreneur. She may have shown you the loving example of what is true friendship or is a woman who models the message of Christ. She may be a marketplace influencer in her niche or mountain God has assigned her.

This woman may be someone who has poured into you and inspires you to follow your dreams with action. You love this woman’s spirit of excellence. She may have a kind loving spirit, she may be someone who inspires you to run on or who in love and with the right spirit tells you the truth and stretches you to excellence.

This woman may be someone who is unassuming, but is there when you need her, can be trusted and will step in when needed. She is the woman who has a praying spirit and is a faithful intercessor that bears fruit in the Kingdom. You may admire the way she manages her household, raises her children and loves her family. The fact that she is a faithful steward and a Doer of the Word in action inspires you. She may be the woman who always support you, knows all about you, yet loves you anyway, yet tells you the truth and what is right to do, and lets you know you can do all things.

You may have little contact with this woman, but you take notice of her spirit of excellence and what she is doing and you respect her. You may even just want to encourage this woman to keep the faith and not to grow weary in well doing.

Take action: 1. Pray for her, her business and family. 2. Tell her why and how you admire her or take note of her 3. Ask her what you can do to help her,

On the first day of Women’s History Month PRAY.

Pray for families, children, women and against human traffking(modern slavery) . Pray that women will be honored in their unique, God created glory; that every kind of injustice toward women will cease; for pornography to be stopped; for protection from sexual violence; that hope be renewed for the beauty of marriage and children; that single women will lay hold of God’s full purpose in their lives

Dream Big and Do Big.

As we honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ,”the Dream” and reflect on what he achieved that many thought was impossible we know that faith makes things possible.”With God, all things are possible.” -Matthew 19:26. Praise the King of Kings that downloaded “The Dream” into the great dreamer, Dr. King’s heart.

What dreams have God poured into your heart? What do you know that  you need to step out in faith and do. Pray and ask the Lord. Seek His face. Listen. Prayer is a dialogue not a monologue. Then DO what He tells you to do.

Ask.  Seek. Knock. Luke 11:9

Ask the Lord for the vision and His wisdom to achieve the dream He has placed in your heart. We don’t have because we do not ask. James 4:2  Listen and write the vision down.

Seek the Lord through His Word and prayer. Seek help from wise mentors and others. Keep a seeking attitude as you continue to pray.

Knock when your asking and seeking has not brought the answer. When we knock we are trying to get someone’s attention. Preserve in prayer and do not let go of the request. Do not give up. Stay persistent when you know God’s heart on the subject. It took Daniel 21 days of pressing prayer to  receive an answer that was sent on the first day. (Daniel 10)

” For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks , the door will be opened.” ( Luke 11:10)

Keep the dream -the goal- the mission alive.

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
Dream Big. Believe. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”Matthew 21:22. Pray without ceasing. 1Thess. 5:17 . Do/Act. Faith without works is dead . Walk by Faith. Faith make things possible , not easy. Don’t quit or grow weary.

Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be discouraged, for the Lord God , my God, is with you. 1 Chronicles 28:20 NASB

Let God Direct Your New Beginning in 2018

Let God Direct Your New Beginning in 2018

Publication Date: 12/30/2017
Author: Evangelist Rose Watson
When we allow God to close doors from our past, we enable Him to open doors which provide us with our New Beginnings!

“Behold I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” ~~Isaiah 43:19

This New Year, 2018, is a year, which brings about the opportunity for beginning anew; it opens a new day and provides a chance for each one of us to collect ourselves and redirect ourselves.

We now have the privilege of allowing God to close one chapter in our lives, as He opens yet another. However, we must understand that this is a two-fold process. When we allow God to close and open chapters in our lives, we must also allow Him to reveal to us what He has already perfected in us, as well as what He desires to perfect in the new chapter. In other words, He has to show us our progression from the past so we can see where we faltered, where we missed it, and where we prevailed. It is important that we learn how God has guided us and intervened for us in the past, so that we are more familiar with the methods He chooses to direct our present and future paths. He is the only one who can direct us to New Beginnings, because, it is He who has ordered our footsteps (Psalms 37:23).

Moving ahead to a New Beginning, means recognizing and forgoing what impeded us in the past. We need to be able to identify the areas in which we met with obstacles, traps and stumbling blocks so that we can overcome them in the New Year.

An obstacle is a hurdle which challenges us to overcome it, go around it, or remain stymied and perplexed before it…and we cannot move forward! A trap is a snare, which closes in on us, then grips, entangles and immobilizes us…and we cannot move forward! A stumbling block (in this respect) is something placed in our way to trip us, cause us to fall, or lose our footing…and we cannot move forward! We cannot move forward towards that which is new, because we are stagnated in that which is old—our past holds our present hostage, and we cannot move beyond either to our future.

We, in and of ourselves cannot find the way, but in our opening text God declares, “I will make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19). Wilderness is symbolic of desolation, wandering and testing; and desert symbolizes hopelessness and an inability to produce fruit—God is telling us, that He will make a way through all that ‘stuff’ to bring us to a New Beginning. Not only will God make a way, He will show us the road map, and lead us through it; all we have to do is say “Yes I will follow You Lord, I will keep moving forward as You lead me into a New Beginning!

New Beginning means we get a ‘do over’ for the things we did not quite master; for the things we were afraid to attempt because of lack of confidence and doubt, and the things we just missed altogether or failed to complete.

God says that which impeded you will be no more, And He who was seated on the throne said “Behold I am making all things new” (Revelation 21:5). He gives us the opportunity to boldly declare ‘The past is over!’ We have the privilege and the power to embrace this “New thing” which the Father is doing in our lives. The year 2017 and all of its impediments, disappointments and setbacks is behind us now. It is finished, the Lord, God JEHOVAH says “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth” (Isaiah 43:19). Let us all move ahead, and spring forth to our ‘New Beginning’ in the year 2018.

Joy to the World

Merry Marvelous Manifestation Monday! Joy to the World the Lord has come. Let the earth receive her King!

Christmas Blessings to all and to your families. May your Christmas be a Day of Love. Give the Gift that keeps on giving… LOVE! Give some and Receive some. Wishing you peace, joy, health, and prosperity this holiday season and a  fantastic New Year.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
During this Holiday Season of joy , celebration and gathering with family and friends(and really all the year) remember those grieving from loss(divorce, death, rejection, failure) and suffering from illness and depression. Have compassion for the poor and lonely. This time of year is often depressing to many. Pray for them and then—- DO. Give a smile, a hug, an encouraging word, a touch, a donation, feed them, give a gift, visit them, and provide support and resources. We are God’s ambassadors (workmanship) created for good works. (Ephesians 2:10) Put hands and feet on your Love and prayers.

Look to the manger and the resurrection to find God’s gifts for you. Love, Life, Faith, Peace, Joy, Power, Favor, VICTORY!

Fervently, Linda Fegins “The Prayer Leader”.

What Shall I do, Lord? By Song of Joy

“What shall I do? What steps should I take? What moves should I make? Oh, Lord, what shall I do?

About two years ago, the Lord allowed me to become acquainted with a family  which were having hard times.  The mom had become a member of the church body and immediately cried out for “HELP.”  Stop, right there! Judge not that ye be not judged (Matthew 7:1). Well, isn’t that one of the reasons God has established the Church – to help?

Back to the story…The dad was on disability and the mom was unemployed.  They were going through many troublesome situations. There was car trouble, house trouble, furniture trouble, refrigerator trouble, food trouble, clothing trouble, money trouble, etc. Trouble.

The Lord placed me in the position to get the car out of the shop, get a refrigerator, find furniture, purchase food, be instrumental in getting a small job and the list could go on and on.  My desires for the family, which were shared with them, were to thank the Lord for making a way for them, husband and children attend Church, and that the wife would stay in fellowship with our church body.  Promises were made, but very few were kept.  In fact, most of the time, there was never any fellowship at the church, unless there was a need or we were giving away things.  The job didn’t last but for a very, very short time.  My desires never came to pass.

Request for prayers were being asked, along with money and material items, but when those last two items ceased, the calls became less frequent. Eventfully they stopped.  I had peace because I was a doer of Ephesians 4:32a, “Be ye kind one to another…”

But recently, I received a text that said, “Mrs. Turnbough, would you please pray for me.”  Three days later, late that night, another text came asking if I knew of some place to get some food.  It’s the holiday and there was not enough food in the house for the family, and her sister who had just moved in.  She had left her husband and she and the children had no place to go.

I pondered about how to handle this situation. Struggling question began to flood my soul. What shall I do? What steps should I take? What moves should I make? Oh, Lord, what shall I do? Should I get involved again? I had said to myself, “I am not helping them anymore”.

Why go back on my word? They didn’t appreciate it.  Are they just using me again? I don’t want to be foolish and lean on my own understanding.  So, it’s the holiday weekend and she wanted certain food in the house.  Is that my responsibility? Is this a test for me to see if I will listen to my flesh or the Spirit? Or, is this a prayer being answered, that I have prayed to be used by You? Is this Your hand at work and You’re inviting me to see what you are doing? It’s not that I can’t do it – do I want to help? What would you do Jesus? Please guide me Holy Spirit.  I need wisdom.

After having these thoughts for an hour or so, I opened my bible and began to read Psalms 47, 48, and I stopped at 49.  It spoke about not trusting in your wealth and when you perish you won’t be taking any of it with you.  I got my answer! Give the family some money for food.  That’s what Jesus would do.

Prayer:

Father God, for whatever reason You allowed her to text me, I can’t let you down because of my flesh questioning the whys and why nots of men.  Amen.

By the way, a day later, the Holy Spirit whispered to my heart why the text was made to this vessel – I needed a fresh testimony in helping someone who I had said I wasn’t going to help again.  “Someone will follow the “Me” in you because you followed “Me.” You passed the test!”

Season of Thankfulness: Thanking God Always. (Days26-28)

Monday is Day 27 of the Season of Thankfulness. I hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving Day celebration with family and friends. You have much to thank God for. Think about it and then thank the Lord.

Even if everything is not like what you want it to be, give thanks to God anyway. My family had to celebrate the unexpected homegoing services of my respected and loved 38 year old cousin who died of an asthma attack on Saturday, two days after Thanksgiving Day . Imagine the broken hurts of his parents and his brand new wife. Lord have mercy. Yet we gave thanks to God for strength and comfort. He still is a good God.  We are praying for his parents and his wife of three weeks.

God’s command is “In every thing give thanks”; and the command is emphasized by the declaration, “for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thess. 5:18, KJV). It is an actual positive command. If we want to obey God, we have simply got to give thanks in everything. There is no getting around it.

Sometimes we have to Hallelujah anyway! What does that mean? We must believe God is blessing us always, and we must be thankful at all times.  Instead of blaming God and complaining when things go wrong, thank God anyway. Believe that God will turn a tragedy into a triumph. It does not mean you understand the occurrence, don’t hurt and that you don’t cry. It means you will still have a thankful heart and praise the Lord.

At the funeral services over 20 persons came to the altar to  give their hearts to the Lord and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Hallelujah!

O give thanks unto the Lord! Call upon His name; make known his deeds among the people!(1 Chronicle16:8-10) No matter what the circumstance give thanks that you have a prayer hearing God, that has unfamthonable love for and that you are more than a conqueror.

Day 26 Brag on God for His love and His loving kindness to you. Brag on Him for who is He is. “I praise You because You are a loving God, whose very nature is love”. (1 Jn 4:16)
Think, about His goodness. Praise Him. Thank Him and tell what your are thankful for. Open your mouth and tell it. Think and Thank. #BragonGod #ThinkandthankGod
“Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men! Ps. 107:21
“And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and rehearse His deeds with shouts of joy and singing! Ps 107: 22.

Season of Thankfulness: Brag on God
Day 27 Brag on God- Think and Thank
. Think about His goodness, grace, and greatness. Thank God for all of His daily benefits. Tell it below thank Him. Psalm 106

1 Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!) O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!

2 Who can put into words and tell the mighty deeds of the Lord? Or who can show forth all the praise [that is due Him]?

A Season of Thankfulness: Brag on God
Day 28 Brag on God
– Think about His goodness, greatness, grace and love. Thank Him for all that He has done in your life.Tell the Lord what you are thankful for.
I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise. Psalm 138 : 1-2. Every thanks and every praise should be to our God. Brag on God for He is worthy of all praise.

Fervently give thanks,

Linda Fegins, “The Prayer Leader”
